 Press Release
Mandegar Daily and Tasnim News Agency Violate Principles of Journalism in writing against Hizb ut Tahrir
(Translated)

The Daily Mandegar Newspaper and Tasnim News Agency published reports on Wednesday 23 Nov 2016; with very similar contents under the titles of “Dangerous Publications by Hizb ut Tahrir in Kabul” and “Vast Media activities of Hizb ut Tahrir and unawareness of Ministry of Information and Culture” respectively.

The writers of these articles have made one sided, contradictory arguments and made biased conclusion in an effort to accuse Hizb ut Tahrir of alleged terrorist activities. Writers have tried to provoke government institutions and people against Hizb ut Tahrir.

The Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir in Wilayah Afghanistan believes that such unbalanced reports are in violation of all principles of journalism, and thereby condemns such publications in the strongest terms. The Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir in Wilayah Afghanistan would also like to take the opportunity to explain the following points to respected journalists and media sources:

1. No one can bring even the smallest proof of Hizb ut Tahrir’s activities being in contradiction with thoughts and rules of Islam. As a matter of fact, the constitution of Afghanistan and its Law on Political Structures (parties) is in contradiction with rules of Islam and against interests of the Ummah. Therefore, the Hizb cannot base its political activities on such non-Islamic laws.

2. Hizb ut Tahrir has a Media Office and an official spokesman in Afghanistan. Members of the Media Office have consistent contact with media sources in Afghanistan including Mandegar Daily. Despite this, Mandegar Daily and Tasnim News Agency have published one sided and unbalanced reports without quoting the spokesman of Hizb ut Tahrir or members of the Media Office of Afghanistan. This is an obvious violation of all principles of journalism.

3. Hizb ut Tahrir challenges that there cannot be any terms such as “national interests” in the entire culture and civilization of Islam and its thoughts and ideas. As such, Hizb ut Tahrir is a staunch defender of interests of the Ummah of Islam on the basis of Islamic thoughts and rules. Hizb ut Tahrir strongly opposes all non-Islamic ideas and concepts including the term “national interests”.

4. The accusations against Hizb ut Tahrir of links with terrorism labelled by Chief Executive of Afghanistan a year ago have remained unfounded with no evidence provided thus far. Some days those accusations, the First Deputy Chief Executive told media sources in clear language that there is no evidence to implicate Hizb ut Tahrir in terrorist activities. However, this statement by First Deputy Chief Executive Officer remained unheard and was completely ignored by media sources, mainly because this statement did not serve to the interest of USA and did not please sponsors and funding agencies of so called free media sources.
