Recently, changes were made to the Cabinet by the government of Tanzania by ap-pointing new Ministers and their assistants. It was also time to appoint Ministers to fill the vacant positions after sackings following the wildlife scandal last month. We in Hizb ut Tahrir in East Africa would like to elaborate the following points:

On 12th December 2013, Kenya attained fifty years of what is so-called ‘independence' from Britain. While this day was celebrated by misusing millions of public money, patients in hospitals in distress from the on-going strike by health workers. Definitely, it shows that the fifty years were worth grieving over than celebrating!

Following the attack on the Westgate Mall in Nairobi which killed tens of people and injured hundreds and as others mourn the deaths of their loved ones, we Hizb ut Tahrir / East Africa, the political party whose ideology is Islam party are shocked and saddened by the event and would like to highlight a few issues as follows:

Hizb ut Tahrir / East Africa strongly condemns the act of injustice, brutality and barbarism injuring Ustadh Ponda Issa through a gun shot while returning from an Islamic seminar. This injustice is done while in Zanzibar, some Muslims are in jail unjustly, the government interfering in running of mosques through control and spying, suppressing and harassing of dawah carriers on a daily basis etc.
