Muslims who live in non-Muslim majority countries all around the world are facing harsher and more severe treatment at the hands of the general population. Much is said about China's treatment of Muslims, but India, which boasts of being the world's largest democracy harbors its own hatred for Islam and Muslims.

In recent years, Hindu mobs have been known to beat, burn, and ultimately kill Muslims, especially with the rise of the Hindu-nationalist BJP Party. Often times, Muslims aren't afforded justice, with the government taking inadequate measures to solve the crimes. In fact, mob violence against Muslims has gotten so bad that Facebook has instituted a policy that slows down how fast messages are shared on its popular WhatsApp platform in India. The idea is to prevent rumors that lead to violence against Muslims from spreading.

Furthermore, fearing a rise in its Muslim population, the government in the northeastern state of Assam released a citizens list, excluding an estimated four million Muslims from its official population count.

All of this has led to the growth of pro-Hindu vigilantes killing Muslims for merely transporting cows and eating beef. The phenomenon has even been given a name "cow vigilantism".

In fact, twenty nine states in India have banned the killing of cows for meat, a move that affects Muslims. These are just some of the actions being taken against India's 250 million Muslims... all as an emboldened pro-Hindu fringe asserts itself on society... with deadly consequences for Muslims.

Today Muslims are at the mercy of their aggressors. With no state to protect us, Muslim blood has no value, to the point where in India even a cow's blood has more value than that of a Muslim.

There could be no better reminder for us of the value of Muslim blood than the noble words of Allah and His Prophet (s) when the Quran says, Bismillah ir rahmaan nir raheem:

(إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَةٌ)

"Verily the believers are brothers" Surah Al Hujarat verse 10

and the saying of the Prophet (s):

لزوال الدنيا أهون على الله من قتل رجل مسلم” (رواه الترمذي)"

“The destruction of the world is lighter on Allah than the killing of one Muslim man” (Thirmidhi)
