The tragic saga of Uighur Muslims in China keeps taking turns for the worse. Not only are 1 million Muslims forcibly detained in concentration camps, not only are they under surveillance by the most sophisticated facial recognition system on the planet, not only are children separated from their parents, not only are they banned from praying, fasting, and showing any outward signs of adherence to Islam, not only are they forced to eat pork, drink alcohol, and declare kufr, not only are Muslim girls forced to marry non-Muslim men, - but the Chinese government paints smiles on the faces of the oppressed claiming that Muslims in China are among the happiest in the world!

In January, Al Jazeera reported that after a meeting with representatives from eight Islamic associations, government officials "agreed to guide Islam to be compatible with socialism and implement measures to Sinicize the religion." The idea is to rewrite how islam is practised within the next five years.

As if the brutal war the Chinese government is waging against its Muslim citizens isn’t bad enough, it is matched by the complicity and claims of ignorance by the leaders in the Muslim world who feign ignorance of the plight of Muslims in China.

Prime Minister of Turkey, Reccep Tayyip Erdogan says “Turkey does not permit any person to incite disharmony in the Turkey-China relationship. Turkey firmly opposes extremism and is willing to increase mutual political trust with China and strengthen security cooperation.” The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan said "Frankly, I don't know much about that," regarding the persecution of Muslims in China. To date neither Turkey, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, or Iran has signed a joint statement condemning China for its oppression of the Uighur Muslims.

These are just a few examples of Muslim leaders turning a blind eye to the suffering of Muslims - all in exchange for quote-unquote “stable” economic ties.

The Prophet (s) said:

" مَا مِنِ امْرِئٍ يَخْذُلُ مُسْلِمًا فِي مَوْطِنٍ يُنْتَقَصُ فِيهِ مِنْ عِرْضِهِ إِلا خَذَلَهُ اللَّهُ فِي مَوْطِنٍ يُحِبُّ فِيهِ نُصْرَتَهُ ، وَمَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ يَنْصُرُ مُسْلِمًا فِي مَوْطِنٍ يُنْتَقَصُ فِيهِ مِنْ عِرْضِهِ وَيُنْتَهَكُ فِيهِ مِنْ حُرْمَتِهِ إِلا نَصَرَهُ اللَّهُ فِي مَوْطِنٍ يُحِبُّ فِيهِ نُصْرَتَهُ "

“Anyone who fails a Muslim in a place that detracts from his honor, and violates his sanctity, Allah Almighty will fail him in a place where he loves his victory, and anyone who supports a Muslim in a place that detracts from his honor, and violates his sanctity. Allah Almighty will support him in a place where he loves his victory,”

The Muslim rulers have fallen short in their duty to defend Islam and the Muslims. In most cases, they’ve participated in the bloodshed and crimes against the Muslims.

The Ummah is in dire need of sincere leadership with real power and Islamic convictions to unite it and protect its sanctity and honor, avenging it and replacing it’s fears with security.
