When Will the Muslim Ummah Do the World a Favor?

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently declared that American airstrikes on Yemen’s Houthis are "doing the world a favor." Speaking on Face the Nation, he claimed the campaign aims to dismantle the Houthis’ ability to strike global shipping lanes and U.S. military vessels. President Trump echoed this stance, vowing “overwhelming lethal force” until the Houthis back down. The strikes, confirmed by U.S. Central Command, may continue for weeks—marking one of the largest U.S. military operations in the region since Trump’s return to office.

Rubio emphasized that this is not a symbolic gesture, but a sustained operation to neutralize what he called “a band of pirates with precision weapons.” He boasted that key missile launchers and commanders had already been eliminated, framing the campaign as a defense of global trade and freedom of navigation.

But whose trade? Whose freedom of navigation?

Rubio’s words reveal a deeper message: that America alone will dictate the terms of global commerce—even if it means killing at will. The real message to the world is that the United States is the self-declared enforcer of global trade—a modern-day pirate wielding military force to plunder control over international waters.

U.S. interference has never been about peace—it has always been about instability, exploitation, and bloodshed. America’s military and political presence in the world has brought nothing but division and devastation. The path forward is to end this era of colonial dominance over our affairs, skies, and waters.

The Muslim Ummah must remember that the true favor it owes the world lies in establishing Islam as a way of life which will bring Mercy and Justice to the world. We must awaken to our responsibility—to rid the world of the true pirates of capitalism and restore justice, strength, and true independence through a Khilafah (Caliphate) political system that will end any piracy once and for all, restoring a merciful order to a world plagued by exploitation and tyranny.
