Funding Our Own Destruction

Trump’s embrace of Syria and its jihadist-turned-president could shake up the Middle East (CNN)

Trump met with Syria’s new leader, Ahmed Al-Sharaa—a man once labeled a terrorist by the U.S. Yet now, he stood in a suit beside Trump and MBS, shaking hands as the cameras flashed.

The rulers of the Muslim world showed no shame in their displays of subservience. They welcomed the same man who had given the green light for bombs to fall on Gaza. These leaders smiled and signed contracts.

Trump moved like a businessman—cutting deals written in betrayal: $142 billion in weapons to Saudi Arabia, a $1.2 trillion economic package with Qatar, and an announced Boeing jet, possibly gifted to replace Air Force One. And in return? U.S. sanctions on Syria were lifted—making Al-Sharaa the latest client and making Syria’s wealth the latest target.

We are an Ummah funding its own destruction. Our wealth has been drained and turned into weapons. The bombs that devastate our cities were bought with our own resources. These rulers enabled our ruin. They shackle our armies, hinder our progress, and plunder our wealth. They are not neutral—they are fully involved, willing participants in our death and devastation.

These are regimes that answer to the colonial West and serve agendas not their own. And unless the Ummah rises—unless it removes these rulers and reestablishes the Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) as a real and living system of leadership for all Muslims—we will remain trapped in this nightmare: watching our wealth used to destroy us, while tyrants smile and we bury our dead in silence.

[وَلاَ تَرْكَنُواْ إِلَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ فَتَمَسَّكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اللّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاء ثُمَّ لاَ تُنصَرُونَ]

“And do not incline toward those who do wrong, lest you be touched by the Fire, and you would not have other than Allah any protectors; then you would not be helped.” [11:113]
