Democratic Elections Are Nothing But Devil Whispers

On September 13, 2025 the race for Zanzibar’s presidency officially began as the ruling party-Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) and opposition party ACT-Wazalendo launched their campaigns. CCM stressed on ‘stability’, ‘peace’ and ‘unity’, while ACT Wazalendo party prioritized on accountability, equity, and economic opportunity.

Comment:

Currently, Tanzania is at the election campaigns period to October 28, 2025 whereby 27 October 2025 would be voting day for Zanzibar election, while Wednesday October 29, 2025 would be voting day for United Republic election according to Tanzania’s Independent National Electoral Commission.

This is the fifth multi-party election since Tanzania decided to adopt multiparty democracy 1992. This year election seemed to have similar scenarios with the previous ones, there is a sense of apathy, facing being boycotted, existence of skeptic feelings that would be not free and fair election, since the process of electoral reforms has not taken place.

The matter of democracy and everything associated with it, such as participating, supporting in democratic campaigns and its election is clear according to Islam.

The Islamic rule on voting for non-Islamic system is forbidden (haram) and it’s also not allowed to implement or call for it. In wider perspective in Islam it is not allowed to implement, participate, adopt or calling for any system in contrary with Islam.

Issue of legislation and ruling in Islam can be not taken from manmade system, such as democracy which is capitalist political system. It must come solely from Allah Taala. Thus, any political, social or economic system which is not based on Islamic Sharia has no place in Islam and must rejected.

In reality, the general public whether in Zanzibar, Tanzania, Africa and the world as a whole know very well that democracy has failed them. Furthermore, there is no difference between the ruling party and the opposition, since all democratic political parties hold the same foundation which the capitalistic secular, colonial creed of self interests, exploitation and separation of religion from people’s lives.

Majority of African countries except very few such as Tanzania are now being ruled by once called opposition parties, yet nothing has been achieved in those countries. Still, Africa is the most poor-stricken continent despite having abundant natural resources which through neocolonialism the Western colonialists are grabbing them for free via the politicians we elected every now and then under democracy!

Africa and the world do not need deceiving secular elections which work only for exploitative colonial agenda without bringing any real revival to people.

The only an alternative ideology and an alternative political system must come from Islam and Islamic political system respectively. Under Islam which is divine ideology from the Creator of the world just and fair Islamic political system under its global Caliphate political leadership would be laid down in Africa.

At that point Africa and the world would be free from the shackles of the evils and exploitative democratic political system, will also witness the real and true leadership and fast development, unlike destruction, backwardness, extreme poverty, exploitation that was brought by the colonialist’s invasion by the end of 19th century CE till now.
