Hemedti Sworn in as President of a Parallel Government

The commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, “Hemedti,” announced the formation of the “Government of Peace and Unity” as a parallel authority in Darfur, and was sworn in as the President of its Presidential Council in Nyala city late last August. This provoked condemnation from the Sudanese government and a UN warning regarding the danger of Sudan's division, as the move was seen as establishing Hemedti's control over the Darfur region independently of Khartoum.

Al-Waie Magazine: Hemedti is seeking to establish a secessionist mini-state in the West following his failure to seize control of the capital. The concentration of his forces in Darfur, coupled with the appointment of his allies, such as Abdelaziz al-Hilu as his deputy, suggests an intention to create an independent entity. This strengthens the scenario of Sudan’s fragmentation, following the separation of the south. This step, supported by covert foreign backing, replicates the experience of warlords, like Haftar in Libya, confirming that the conflict in Sudan now threatens its territorial integrity and portends a redrawing of its map, through a new division that serves the interests of colonialists and their agents.

New American Ambassador with a Military Profile

Washington nominated diplomat James Holtsnider as Ambassador Extraordinary to Amman. He is a former Marine officer with extensive experience in Middle East dossiers, having served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Somalia. He recently held the position of Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.

Al-Waie Magazine: The selection of an ambassador with a military-intelligence background reflects an American focus on the security dimension of the relationship with Jordan. Holtsnider specializes in political-military coordination, suggesting Washington’s intent to strengthen security cooperation, counter-terrorism efforts, and protect the stability of the Kingdom. Jordan hosts American forces and enjoys the status of a Major Non-NATO ally (MNNA). His appointment may also be linked to an American vision for a Jordanian role in the region, especially concerning Syria and Iraq, and the drive to secure Jordan amidst regional shifts, normalization and its accompanying deals, through military-flavored diplomacy that ensures Amman remains within the American orbit.

Acceleration of Normalization Steps with “Israel” under American Auspices

Recent weeks have witnessed intense diplomatic activity aimed at pushing a historic normalization deal between Riyadh and Tel Aviv. The American administration is negotiating to grant Saudi Arabia security guarantees, a defense pact, and assistance with a civilian nuclear program in exchange for establishing official relations with “Israel.” Riyadh, conversely, publicly affirmed its condition that the Palestinians must achieve a just settlement before any normalization, yet reports indicate Saudi flexibility in accepting gradual normalization in exchange for massive strategic gains.

Al-Waie Magazine: This major deal reflects a restructuring of regional alliances within an American vision to form a regional axis that integrates “Israel” as the region’s police force. By normalizing relations with the Kingdom, the Land of the Haramayn, other regimes will legitimize their submission into the Zionist embrace. Washington, in turn, is enticing Riyadh with defense and weaponry, lifting the ban on offensive weapons sales and enhancing capabilities, and a civilian nuclear umbrella to ensure its regional supremacy. If concluded, this deal would constitute another betrayal of the Palestinian cause, and a stab in the back of the entire Ummah as it aims to end the conflict in favor of the Jewish entity, in exchange for hollow promises. However, it is also a dangerous gamble. The people, especially those in the Arabian Peninsula, will not accept the abandonment of al-Masjid al-Aqsa (the Masra, destination of the Night Journy of the Prophet (saw)). Perhaps this will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back, unleashing overwhelming rage that turns the tables on the heads of the normalizers.

Escalation of Settler Violence in the West Bank and Displacement of Bedouin Families

The occupied West Bank witnessed an unprecedented wave of assaults by “Israeli” settlers, protected by occupation forces, which compelled dozens of Palestinian Bedouin families to flee their villages. In early July, 50 families were displaced from the Arab Al-Malihat community near Jericho, under the threat of armed settlers who established a settlement outpost adjacent to them. Meanwhile, Palestinian human rights organizations documented these incidents as forced displacement aimed at expanding settlements.

Al-Waie Magazine: The escalation of settler violence reflects a systematic “Israeli” strategy aimed at uprooting Palestinians and imposing new facts on the ground. Since the outbreak of the war on Gaza in October 2023, officially supported settler attacks have sharply increased, despite a decline in Palestinian operations, which refutes the claim that the settlers are “defending themselves.” UN experts warned in July 2025 that these assaults, including the burning of property, poisoning of water sources, and theft of livestock, are not random but part of a deliberate strategy to erase the Palestinian presence in vital agricultural areas. Although most nations consider the settlements illegal under international law, the current right-leaning “Israeli” government provides political and security cover for these extremist settlers. This has escalated to the point of displacing entire communities, such as Arab Al-Malihat, a situation Palestinians have described as a “new Nakba.” This escalation threatens to turn the West Bank into a volatile powder keg, especially given the absence of accountability, and the growing international calls to halt the violence, and impose sanctions on “Israel” to protect the population under occupation.

The Rafah Massacre: The Occupation Kills Dozens of Civilians While They Seek Relief

In a horrifying scene that embodies the cruelty of the war on Gaza, “Israeli” soldiers opened fire without warning on crowds of starving Palestinians gathered in front of a food aid distribution center in Rafah, in the southern part of the Strip. The massacre resulted in the killing of at least 34 civilians who were waiting to receive bags of food, out of 110 Palestinians killed across Gaza on that bloody day of July 12, 2025. This incident occurred while Qatari-mediated ceasefire negotiations were faltering, and condemnations poured in regarding Israel’s plan to completely deport the residents of Gaza.

Al-Waie Magazine: This massacre highlights the barbarity of “Israeli” policy in starving civilians in Gaza and targeting them even in their moments of struggling for survival. Eyewitnesses described the attack site as having turned into a “death trap,” drenched in the blood of innocents who carried bags of aid only to be surprised by Israeli army bullets raining down on them as if they were “sitting ducks.” Human rights organizations confirm that “Israeli” forces deliberately targeted civilian crowds around humanitarian relief centers, resulting in the deaths of over 800 Palestinians and the wounding of 5,000 others at food distribution sites since late May, many of whom sustained gunshot wounds to the head and limbs in a systematic pattern of killing.

These crimes provoked international shock, with the United Nations describing them as “human massacres” and “death traps,” increasing pressure on “Israel” to stop targeting civilians. However, the extremist “Israeli” leadership continued to justify its operations under the pretext of eliminating Hamas, regardless of the human cost, in flagrant disregard for the laws of war. The massacre reflects a situation for which the neighboring states bear responsibility, having left the people of Gaza vulnerable in the hands of the criminal entity. The Gazans have reached a state caught between the hammer of starvation and the anvil of bombardment. There is no safe haven or act of survival away from “Israel’s” fire. This has led analysts to describe it as a deliberate policy intended to break the population's will through starvation and terrorization, or a case of revenge for the severity of the pain inflicted upon the occupying entity since October 7th. Such atrocities amount to war crimes and further isolate “Israel” internationally, especially amid growing calls for investigation and accountability.

Unprecedented Famine in Gaza Claims the Lives of Children and Alienates the World

The war-stricken Gaza Strip is facing another kind of war: mass starvation that is ravaging the population, especially children, as a result of the suffocating siege and “Israel’s” deliberate prevention of supplies. International organizations warned in July 2025 of the spread of acute hunger and rising child fatalities due to malnutrition. Sixty-seven children have been recorded as dying from starvation so far, while 650,000 children under the age of five are exposed to the imminent risk of severe acute malnutrition. Local health authorities reported that dozens of Palestinians are dying every three days due to the lack of food and medicine in a humanitarian situation that is “harsh to the utmost degree.”

Al-Waie Magazine: The current famine in Gaza is a direct result of the siege and starvation strategy adopted by “Israel” in its war. This has led more than 100 relief and human rights organizations to sound the alarm and accuse Israel of committing deliberate “mass starvation” against the population. Amid electricity outages and depleted fuel, hospitals are unable to save the emaciated children who have been reduced to “miserable skeletons” due to malnutrition. For the two million besieged residents of Gaza, obtaining a mere crust of bread has become a daily, life-threatening battle; food queues are shelled and distribution centers have turned into killing fields, as demonstrated by the Rafah massacre.

This catastrophic scene has provoked an unprecedented wave of global outrage against “Israel,” with over 100 international organizations describing the situation as “the worst famine crisis the world is witnessing today” and demanding urgent governmental action to pressure “Israel” and lift the siege. This also prompted some countries to take symbolic action, such as France air-dropping aid, despite acknowledging it is insufficient given “Israel’s” prevention of land supplies. The continuation of the mass starvation policy is not only a blatant violation of international law but also inflames sentiments across the Arab and Muslim worlds, placing Western nations, which support “Israel,” in a difficult position vis-à-vis their own populations. Perhaps the description by the UN Secretary-General of international silence as “inexcusable” reflects the extent of UN negligence and American complicity, indicating that this manufactured famine has become a weapon used to try and break Gaza’s will and force its people into emigration, a policy of forced displacement that is internationally rejected.

Escalation of Violence Against India’s Muslims Under Hindu Nationalist Rule

During the summer of 2025, India witnessed a disturbing wave of sectarian attacks targeting the Muslim minority at the hands of extremist Hindu groups, implicitly encouraged by the climate of incitement fostered by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the states of North and Central India, dozens of Muslims were beaten and even killed by “cow protectors” under the pretext of suspicion regarding their consumption of or trade in beef, which is sacred to Hindus. In a horrific incident in Haryana state in August, a village mob killed a young Muslim man, 26 years old, merely based on a rumor that he had consumed beef. Cases were also recorded of Muslims traveling on trains being assaulted, their food searched, and attacked if extremists found what they believed to be beef.

Al-Waie Magazine: These incidents occur within a broader context of escalating institutional and societal Islamophobia since Narendra Modi and his Hindu nationalist party took power. The government has repeatedly failed to protect Muslims. Moreover, its officials often implicitly justify these violations. Reports indicate that the police have often failed to arrest the perpetrators or have sometimes charged the victims themselves.

Pro-government media outlets have promoted hate speech, and some local officials have deliberately demolished the homes of Muslim families using bulldozers as collective punishment following sectarian clashes, a practice dubbed the policy of “Bulldozer Justice.” The situation culminated with the enactment of discriminatory laws in certain states, banning the hijab in schools or restricting halal slaughter, thereby fueling feelings of marginalization. This environment has led to the normalization of popular violence against Muslims; in the name of protecting “Mother Cow,” cold-blooded murders are committed. A Human Rights Watch report indicated that government officials themselves incite hatred through extremist rhetoric against Muslims during election campaigns.

The result is a profound fear among India’s Muslims, well over the officially reported 200 million people, that they are being relegated to second-class citizens or that their very existence is being targeted. Internally, liberal and secular Indian voices have begun sounding the alarm that the “New India” promised by the Modi government is a religiously intolerant Hindu state that threatens India’s own unity. The violence has not been limited to Muslims; Christians and Dalits, “the untouchables,” have also been affected. Should impunity persist, observers fear the outbreak of wider sectarian unrest that could recall the scenes of mass violence in Gujarat 2002 or the Partition of India in 1947.
