On May 19, 2026, the website Lebanon Debate published what it called the final amended version of the general amnesty law. It became clear that this law was not truly general, encompassing all citizens, but rather tailored to sectarian specifications, exceptions, and narrow, blind calculations. It reflects a continuation of the era of injustice imposed by the criminal Assad regime and its followers in Lebanon, and a mindset that refuses to move from the idea of tyranny to the idea of justice and fairness. Furthermore, legal violations emerged in the authoritarian interference during the drafting of the general amnesty law! Under what legal norms or international systems does such a thing exist?! Only in this feeble entity, which proves daily that it is merely a collection of sects for whom a country has been tailored, not a normal country where sects live together as other nations do, provided they choose a system of governance based on the just care of its citizens, free from oppression and arbitrary treatment!
Anyone familiar with Lebanon knows that the ruling powers there prioritize the interests of their Western backers, particularly the United States, over the interests of the people. This is the case with all ruling regimes in the region. We are certain that the electoral process and the negotiations with the Jewish entity are what prompted the authorities to bring the issue of a general amnesty to the forefront, hoping to distract Muslims and silence them from exercising their awareness and legitimate right to reject the actions and concessions made by the current regime in the negotiations with the Zionists.
Regarding the amnesty file, we say:
To the representatives of the Muslims: Your stance must be bolder, clearer, more steadfast, and closer to the people you are supposed to represent. You have seen what the Muslim street wants. Do not be representatives of the authorities in their injustice, but rather be representatives of the people in lifting the injustice from them. If you are forced to suspend this law, then either grant a comprehensive general amnesty that restores matters to their proper order, or reject a law imposed by reality and the overreach of power
“So do not let your desires cause you to deviate ˹from justice˺. If you distort the testimony or refuse to give it, then ˹know that˺ Allah is certainly All-Aware of what you do.” [An-Nisa:135].
To the sheikhs of the Muslims and their institutions, especially the Dar al-Ifta and its affiliates: This is a moment for the people to know whether you are truly one of them, or whether you are detached from them by siding with the de facto authority and unjust compromises of all kinds. Do not record this stance against yourselves, and be as Allah Almighty said:
[يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُونُوا قَوَّامِينَ بِالْقِسْطِ شُهَدَاءَ لِلَّهِ وَلَوْ عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِكُمْ]
“O believers! Stand firm for justice as witnesses for Allah even if it is against yourselves” [An-Nisa:135].
To the Speaker of Parliament and those he represents, your media office has stated that you are "exerting efforts to bring the country to the solidarity and consensus it so desperately needs today." But is solidarity and consensus achieved by allowing the return of agents of the Jewish entity, releasing drug traffickers, and then fabricating figures to keep those who remain in prison—namely, the Islamists who are the rightful owners of this law?! Is this what solidarity and consensus look like?! Or is it about turning the page on the past—as some like to call it—by emptying the prisons of those who were wronged by the Assad regime and its henchmen in Lebanon, especially after their suffering and the injustice of that criminal regime and its collaborators have been proven?!
“Do not let the hatred of a people lead you to injustice. Be just! That is closer to righteousness. And be mindful of Allah. Surely Allah is All-Aware of what you do.” [Al-Ma'idah:8].
And the Prime Minister, a former judge of the International Court of Justice! Is this justice! How can you accept this arbitrariness in the law?! And what about what your Minister of Defense did and what he and his officers who attended the committees declared?! According to the Lebanese system of government, you are executive bodies subject to the law, so how can one of your largest institutions blatantly interfere, resulting in a draft law that is not a general amnesty but a special one?! You should not have remained silent about these transgressions and this perpetuation of injustice, especially since you are supposed to represent the most wronged party in the country. Allah Almighty says:
“Indeed, Allah commands you to return trusts to their rightful owners;1 and when you judge between people, judge with fairness. What a noble commandment from Allah to you! Surely Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.” [An-Nisa:58].
To the presidency and the new era, as you called it, some were optimistic that you had assumed power. In your inaugural address, you stated: “Justice is the arbiter and the sole safeguard for every citizen. This is my pledge! My pledge is to work with all of them to defend the public interest and the rights of all Lebanese, individually and collectively. No sect is superior to another, and no citizen has an advantage over another. This is a pledge to respect the constitution, build the state, and implement the laws. This is the pledge of Lebanon!”
Do you truly see what you pledged represented by this flawed law? Do you truly see in it the public interest of the country and its people, indeed, the vast majority of its people? We call upon you to uphold what you committed yourselves to in that same address: “My pledge is to challenge the constitutionality of any law that violates the provisions of the constitution and to respect the separation of powers, exercising my oversight role with integrity and objectivity, and through my right to reject laws and decrees that do not serve the public interest, leaving it to the Parliament or the Cabinet to reconsider them.” Will you act accordingly? Will you abide by these words?
And now to our families, the families of the unjustly detained and imprisoned: Victory is but a moment of patience, and you have endured and persevered for many long years. So do not despair, and do not retreat. We have called upon you repeatedly, and we reiterate our call: Your peaceful demonstrations in the streets are taken into account by the authorities, and your peaceful movement unsettles and frightens them. So do not sit idly by, and do not underestimate your movement. But beware, beware of being drawn into the temptation of confrontation with the institutions of power, especially the members of the army and security forces. Our problem is not with them, but with those who accepted the exclusion of our sons from the general amnesty, turning it into a special pardon, which we must reject in its entirety. The release of our sons is not a favor, but a legitimate right, beyond dispute or debate. Indeed, it is the very least they deserve after years of injustice and suffering for them and for you. We remind you of the words of Allah Almighty:
[يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اصْبِرُوا وَصَابِرُوا وَرَابِطُوا وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ]
“O believers! Patiently endure, persevere, stand on guard,1 and be mindful of Allah, so you may be successful.” [Aali 'Imran 3:200].
In conclusion, to the politicians of Lebanon: Injustice has dire consequences, says Allah (swt):
[وَمَنْ يَظْلِمْ مِنْكُمْ نُذِقْهُ عَذَاباً كَبِيراً]
“And whoever of you does wrong, We will make them taste a horrible punishment.” [Al-Furqan 25:19]. Allah (swt) says:
“And the wrongdoers will have no protector or helper” [Ash-Shuraa 42:8]. The Prophet (saw) said: «اتَّقوا الظلم؛ فإنَّ الظلم ظلماتٌ يوم القيامة» "Beware of injustice, for injustice will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection." And Allah Almighty says in the Hadith Qudsi: «يَا عِبَادِي، إِنِّي حَرَّمْتُ الظُّلْمَ عَلَى نَفْسِي وَجَعَلْتُهُ بَيْنَكُمْ مُحَرَّماً، فَلَا تَظَالَمُوا» “O My servants, I have forbidden injustice for Myself and made it forbidden among you, so do not wrong one another.” So beware, beware of injustice and its consequences. The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: «إِنَّ اللَّه لَيُمْلِي لِلظَّالِمِ فَإِذَا أَخَذَهُ لَمْ يُفْلِتْهُ» “Indeed, Allah gives respite to the oppressor, but when He seizes him, He does not let him escape.” Then he (saw) read:
[وَكَذَلِكَ أَخْذُ رَبِّكَ إِذَا أَخَذَ الْقُرَى وَهِيَ ظَالِمَةٌ إِنَّ أَخْذَهُ أَلِيمٌ شَدِيدٌ]
“Such is the ˹crushing˺ grip of your Lord when He seizes the societies entrenched in wrongdoing. Indeed, His grip is ˹terribly˺ painful and severe.” [Hud 11:102].
