The Failure of the London Sudan Conference amid Anglo-American Rivalry for Influence in Sudan
(Translated)

The conference held on Sudan yesterday, Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in the British capital, London, failed to issue a final communiqué. News reports stated that the conference failed to release a closing statement due to disagreements among some Arab countries (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the UAE), according to what was published by Independent Arabia on 16/04/2025.

Britain's initiative to convene and prepare for this conference, which included participation from European and American countries, some Arab and African states, the United Nations, the Arab League, the African Union, and IGAD, aimed to create media and political momentum, portraying it as a global conference to resolve the conflict in Sudan.

To clarify the situation, the following facts must be mentioned:

First: Britain is not genuinely concerned about Sudan or its people to seek a resolution to the ongoing conflict. Rather, this conference falls within the framework of the Anglo-American struggle for influence in Sudan, a rivalry that became evident after the revolutionary movement in Sudan that led to the fall of the U.S.-backed Al-Ingaz regime (National Salvation Regime) in 2019. Events have since proven this rivalry, culminating in a war among military factions loyal to either side, all in an effort to thwart the Framework Agreement, which, had it been implemented, would have shifted Sudan from U.S. to British influence.

Second: Since the outbreak of war, Britain has attempted to obstruct American plans in Sudan through political maneuvers via its allies in the Forces of Freedom and Change, which later became the "Taqaddum" coalition and recently, "Sumood" but failed. The U.S. succeeded in demonizing Britain’s civilian allies and in undermining the Framework Agreement, to the point that even its original civilian proponents no longer speak of it. Still, Britain did not surrender, and this conference was one of its tools, using as a pretext the atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces against unarmed civilians, especially the recent events in El Fasher, capital of the Darfur region, particularly in displacement camps such as Zamzam.

Third: The U.S. will not allow any political solution in Sudan except through its own channels, nor will it permit an end to the war until it achieves the goals for which it ignited it, goals that are nearing completion. Thus, America will not allow the fruits of its conspiracies in Sudan to fall into British hands. Accordingly, it used its agents in Egypt and Saudi Arabia to sabotage the London conference. (The Arab countries refused to sign a joint statement to establish a contact group to facilitate ceasefire talks in Sudan. This followed a day-long dispute between Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE over the statement.) This was confirmed by the British Foreign Office, which stated, "The Foreign Office said it was saddened that no agreement was reached on a political path forward in the absence of a final statement." In conclusion, we in Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Sudan, since the onset of this cursed war, indeed even before it, have consistently warned the people of Sudan about the perils of the Anglo-American rivalry over Sudan, and that it would bring nothing but disaster upon them. The facts now unfold day by day, confirming the truth of what we have previously stated.

We renew our call to the sincere sons of Sudan: take a stand against those who have turned our land into a battlefield for colonial conflict. Expose them and adopt the Ummah’s project, the one that severs the hand of the colonial disbeliever and lifts Sudan from ruin. This is the project of the Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) on the method of Prophethood. It alone offers an exit from colonial subjugation. It is the honor of this world, the pleasure of Allah (Exalted is He), and the dignity of the Hereafter.
