 Press Release
TANZANIA’S 2025 POST ELECTORAL VIOLENCE

Dear Journalists,

Tanzania has been facing a political crisis since the election day of 29th October 2025 and afterwards for several days, resulting in loss of lives and destruction of property and infrastructures. Following this incident, we, Hizb ut Tahrir / Tanzania, would like to express the following:

As we have always stated that democracy with its multi-party system is a political system of capitalism that was introduced by Western colonialists for their own interests, not for the desires, interests, or progress of our countries as many believe to the point that some people become confused with false hopes, wasting a lot of time, resources, and even risking their lives in anticipation of change.

This multi-party democracy system was introduced by the colonists through deceit and manipulation with the aim of changing the face of the regime, as they realized the people are fed up and there was growing discontents due to the ruthlessness of the single party system that was protected by them (West) after granting a fake independence. With this system, westerners also aim to deceive people that they also have a decision-making role, which is not true, since even in the United States citizens do not directly choose their president.

Therefore, this multiparty system was introduced as another strategy to strengthen neo-colonialism after old colonialism and fake independence (flag independence), in order to prevent people from thinking accurately against the capitalist system. It became now, instead of people working to uproot corrupt capitalist system that dominated and exploited worldwide, especially in developing countries, people remained consumed by their energies in the false solution of changing the faces of rulers while the fundamental problem, which is the capitalist system, remains in place.

However, if the ruler protects their interests well, the opposing parties would continue to remain as spectators. Therefore, it is clear that Western colonial countries have also been using the policy of multi-party systems and other excuses to incite civil conflicts, divisions, and violence in a cunning way to easily achieve their exploitation of resources in developing countries. Examples include Sudan, Congo, Yemen, Somalia, and others.

Not to mention that the multiparty election is colonial strategy to prolong life of their capitalist ideology, making opposition parties as reserving weapon to the ruling parties of the third world, should they do not protect well interests of the colonisers, in that case the opposing parties would be given power to remove the rulling party from the throne.

Regarding the emergence of statements instigating division and provoking religious tension between Muslims and Christians by some Christian and Muslim leaders, this is the result of the colonial idea of 'divide and rule.'

It should be remembered that colonisers, in intentionally perpetuating their dominance in their colonies, leave or create various rifts of division based on tribal, regional, religious etc., factors to exploit them easily for their own benefit when needed.

An Open Call to All

After this explanation, we would like to issue a clear call to the entire public in the followings:

Everyone should be aware that the major and fundamental problem in the world today is the capitalist ideology, which dominates everywhere, strengthened and led by major powers. Thus, changing the face of the ruler does not change anything except exhaustion and depleting of resources.

There are many developing countries implementing multi-party democracy, yet their resources are still owned by Western nations, citizens are still struggling in poverty, and their countries remain slaves to western nations. Therefore, the real solution is not to have multi-party systems, but to uproot capitalist ideology from the face of the earth.

Furthermore, we warn some institutions, followers, and leaders of religions among Muslims and Christians not to fall into the trap of colonisers using the emotions of provocations and religious tension for the sake of democratic politics.

It is expected that religious leaders should come forward to the public with their religious solutions on political, economic and social solutions, instead of stiring up religious conflict by riding on democratic politics, that do not concern them and devoid of spiritual values.

Utilization of religious provocations for secular politics have severe consequences, disasters and never ends well, as seen in Bosnia Herzegovina from 1992 to 1995, Central Africa in 2013 through the Anti Balaka and Seleka gangs, and the continuation of such conflicts within Nigeria, Sudan, etc.
Thanks in advance.
