News Right Now: No Credibility
The US presidential elections are fast approaching and the debates and campaign for both Trump and Harris are in full swing. Both candidates are out-doing one another in trying to prove who supports and cares for the Zionist entity more! They’ve both been very vocal and clear in their stance towards the genocide and how they will continue to stand by their terrorist occupying ally - “Israel.”
The Muslim community is once again facing an atmosphere of intimidation, scrutiny, and pressure, with efforts similar to previous presidential elections aimed at urging Muslims to vote, whether out of fear, perceived benefit, or a sense of civic obligation! This has left many Muslims debating how they should cast their vote in the electoral process whilst both the main presidential candidates are raw supporters of the killings of our brethren in Palestine and recently Lebanon. Some are even leaning towards the Green Party as a form of protest, hoping to punish both Democrats and Republicans. However, voting, whether for a third party- no matter how principled it may seem is still- voting for a system which grants legitimacy to a political system that not only gives authority to man to govern and rule over us but provides a stamp of approval to a system that continues to wage wars, impose sanctions, and occupy lands across the Muslim world.
It’s very obvious and clear; America's relationship with the Muslim world is fixed and deeply rooted in its geopolitical interests. The Republicans and Democrats have consistently supported policies that resulted in military interventions, occupations, and economic sanctions, which has devastated our Ummah having affected the lives of millions of Muslims. Iraq and Afghanistan to Palestine and beyond, U.S. foreign policy remains solid, enjoying bipartisan support, whether it was Biden, Trump, Obama, Bush or potentially Harris adding to the list- it doesn’t matter who’s in power! This reality underscores the futility of voting as a means of changing these policies. No matter who wins, the Muslim world continues to suffer under the weight of American hegemony.
We must realise and recognize that participating in these elections ultimately contributes to the very system that has, is and will always oppress us! Every vote, whether cast in favor of a Democrat, Republican, or even a third-party candidate, only means that WE are giving our approval for these governments to do as they please in our Muslims lands to our Ummah! How can it be that this is even an option for us when we see so clearly how they have stood there with not an ounce of shame in supporting the Zionist entity in killing and massacring in Gaza! How can it be that we have an ounce of hope in them when they openly tell us, that it was only with US support, the illegal occupiers have been able to mercilessly slaughter 45,000 of our people! How dare they expect us to vote in a system for candidates who say “I will support 'Israel’s' right to win its war” and “Throughout my career and life, I have supported ‘Israel’ and the ‘Israeli’ people!”
The true alternative lies not in the ballot box! It lies in Islam! Islam offers a comprehensive solution to end the subjugation and occupation of the Muslim world. Islam provides a framework for justice, governance, and resistance to oppression that far exceeds the temporary and flawed solutions offered by Western political systems. It is only through returning to Islamic principles and unity that Muslims can hope to break free from the cycle of war, exploitation, and suffering imposed upon them. It is only through the re-establishment of the Islamic Khilafah system where we will truly be able to live in harmony and order! May Allah (swt) hasten its return, Ameen.
