Press Release
﴿فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا وَيَلْعَبُوا حَتَّى يُلَاقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ﴾
“So leave them to indulge in their falsehoods and to play in this world of theirs until they encounter that day”
American pop star Chris Brown is in tour of the Coastal City of Mombasa Kenya to hold a music concert at Mama Ngina Drive. The celebrity is not only popular in the music fraternity but also in the scene of thuggery. In late August 2016, he was arrested at his home in Los Angeles over the allegations of pointing out a gun at a woman. His abusive character could be evidenced when he smashed a mobile phone belonging to a fan as she attempted to take a selfie with him in Mombasa. In this regard, we Hizb ut Tahrir / Kenya strongly oppose this concert and wish to highlight the following:
This destructive event is a disrespect upon the Muslims of Mombasa and Kenya at large on the fact that Mombasa is regarded as Kenya’s Islamic hub. Organizing such events which is now becoming a norm has turned Mombasa to be a platform for disobeying Allah (swt) openly!
It is a pity to see the so called Muslim leaders turning silent like that of the dead person as if Allah is pleased with what is happening in Mombasa. We certainly wish to remind them that Allah will hold them accountable for their leadership. With regard to Muslim Scholars who are the inheritors of the noble Prophets of Allah (peace be upon them), we would like to remind them to carry their great responsibility of denouncing any evil without fear or favor. Although we know most of the Scholars normally decide to be silent due to a small worldly benefit they get from the tycoons and not because they are not aware of the munkar.
We say hosting such destructive concerts under the banner of boosting tourism and making profit has demonstrated how Capitalist system view actions and things. It is upon these criteria i.e. actions are viewed good and beneficial on a profit basis, the democratic capitalists hold such evil events regardless of the negative short and long-term impact on our generation. How many of our youngsters have been assaulted and ruined morally by the so called tourists. We further say that the notion of personal freedom being propagated by the democratic capitalists which has distanced our youngsters from the Islamic morals thus putting them in the destructive ‘entertainment’.
Islam has taught us the true criteria of actions in life are Halal and Haram while the sole objective of Man’s actions is to attain Allah’s pleasure and not the material benefit. Consequently, Islam taught that entertainment and festival should not extend beyond the limits set by Allah and that on the Day of Reckoning, human beings will be held accountable for their actions in this world. It is upon this basis the Khilafah "Caliphate" will ban all concerts that will go beyond the Islamic teachings.
