News Right Now: Trump's Favorite Dictator

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. Welcome to News Right Now - Trump’s Favorite Dictator

US President Donald Trump yet again evoked raw emotion and made international headlines when he uttered a shocking, yet predictable statement at the G7 Summit in Biarritz France. According to the Wall Street Journal, “Mr. Trump looked over a gathering of American and Egyptian officials and called out in a loud voice: ‘Where’s my favorite dictator?’ Several people who were in the room at the time said they heard the question,” the newspaper reported.

After 30 plus years of rule by Egyptian strongman Hosni Mubarak, the US has found a new dictator, ready and willing to do their bidding. Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi has drawn criticism for his authoritarian rule since taking power following a 2013 coup. Under Mr. Sisi, Egyptian authorities have detained thousands of political opponents, torturing and killing prisoners, and of bulldozing political opposition, according to reports by the United Nations, U.S. State Department and nongovernmental groups.

Despite this, multiple US officials from former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn to President Trump have praised the Egyptian dictator as a source of stability in the region, and have even pinned their hopes on him “reforming” Islam to be in-line with 21st century secularism. As if that weren’t enough, Egyptian businessman Mohammed Ali accused of Sisi corruption, directing millions of dollars of public funds to houses, villas, and hotels.

Ali, who worked as a military contractor for 15 years has been posting videos demanding that Sisi step-down as president, release all political prisoners, urged Egyptian citizens to protest, and advised the security services to protect the citizens and not the regime. Just like Hosni Mubarak before him, Sisi is siphoning billions of Egyptian pounds from the Egyptian people, catering to the West’s demands while simultaneously failing to deliver Egypt from its status as a client and agent of the US. For all its talk of freedom and democracy, the US supports, and even befriends dictators who suppress the very democracy and freedoms they claim to promote. Not only that, the US President now openly jokes about Sisi being his favorite dictator!

On Friday, the 20th of September, hundreds of protestors gathered in Cairo’s Tahrir Square, Alexandria, and a town in the Suez area, to protest against Sisi - some of the first protests since he took power in 2014. Just like bin Salman of Saudia Arabia, the Sisi’s of the world owe their position and power to their colonial masters - positions that they would not be able to defend were it not for the protection of their Western bosses. These kings, presidents, and dictators, whilst being the darlings of the West, are the most wretched of this Ummah, implementing kufr systems and shackling the Islamic Ummah via the poison of nationalism, secularism, and capitalism.

The true solution is for the Ummah to not only demand the removal of these dictators, but the secular systems that breed them. We as an Ummah have to demand radical, comprehensive, deep-rooted change that replaces the secular system as opposed to being appeased by a mere face-lift of the current system.

Our call must be to replace them with the Islamic Khilafah system which will unite the Ummah and utilize its resources to benefit the Ummah.

Jazakum Allahu khairan for joining us. Wassalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
