News Right Now: Into the Fire

Assalaamu Alaykum wa rahamtullah hee wa barakathu hu and welcome to today's episode: Into the Fire

An agreement for a 7-day ceasefire between the Taliban and America came into place as a prerequisite for negotiations on American troop withdrawal from Afghanistan. American officials are adamant that deals can only be made if the terms and conditions they set are met. The Taliban have been in negations with the US with stalling, stopping and starting since December 2018. With the track record of the US as a foreign aggressor stuck in a prolonged war with no end, the American conditions and threats need to be examined. Defense Secretary Mark Esper’s statements for a week-long reduction in violence, "We've said all along that the best, if not only, solution in Afghanistan is a political agreement.“

America is leading negotiations and presenting its conditions and threats to the Taliban. America acts like she has the upper hand to make all decisions and final settlements for peace, but America is right now weak and needs to save face in this prolonged conflict.

America needs to make all its plans for a future Afghanistan with its own interests secured and that requires that the government and the influencing powers in Afghanistan are compliant to the American agenda. In this case it needs the Taliban to comply and not cause it the headache it has had since the invasion in 2001.

American troops in Afghanistan know they are not safe and America is aware that it needs to leave Afghanistan with stability that ensures it has its own interests secured.
America has not been able to defeat the Mutahijeen so far and so it presents political solutions and agreements as the way forward. This actually shows how the negotiations come from a position of weakness. By showing the actions of those seeking to resist the occupation as the problem it also is an act of deception, failing to present the real culprit, America as the aggressor and the occupier that is never going to remove her influence from this region, even if every single troop goes home. the political settlement will only be the one that suits the American plans.

It is evident that Trump needs to rouse support for his re-election bid in 2020, he wants to also arrogantly make claims of all he has achieved since his presidency. He is in a hurry to withdraw troops to show the American public he is the one who settled this matter.

For the Taliban and others in Afghanistan, this time is right to carry on teaching America a lesson. The government in Afghanistan is weak and subservient. Its weakness is so much so, that it is asking to be part of the negotiations but is not allowed by its master, America. Political agreements will be presented to and executed by this weak body. Without American troops Afghanistan will still be under the US influence and control via the puppet government.

America cannot be trusted and the Taliban should abandon the negotiations immediately. giving concessions and assurances in the past never worked as there is no sincerity from America, only seeking advantages and seeing what benefits can be taken.

America is tired and weary and can easily be defeated on the battleground. So, we Should not be giving it a ‘victory’ to be celebrated and used to assist the presidential campaign. Rather, America needs to be removed from Afghanistan both militarily and politically along with her puppets in Kabul.
