Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday 01/05/22 declared a 12 percent increase in the minimum wage, effective May 1, 2022, to help workers who have seen household budgets squeezed by inflation, particularly for basic foodstuffs and fuel.

The external affairs minister of India, S. Jaishankar, met Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday. Hasina offered her country's seaport, Chittagong to India, for use by Assam and Tripura. This would lead to better connectivity between the two countries. Jaishankar also invited Hasina to visit New Delhi.
