Tens of thousands of Algerians have been protesting in the capital and cities across the country this week, in response to President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s plan to extend his 20-year rule by seeking a fifth term. Students were demanding that Bouteflika, 81, drop his intention to seek re-election in the April 18 presidential vote.

As a sign of solidarity towards the Uighur Muslims facing oppression under the Chinese Communist regime, Hizb ut Tahrir / Malaysia (HTM) organized "The 111 Muslim Uighur Solidarity" which was held shortly after the Friday prayers on January 11th 2019. Protesters assembled at the Tabung Haji Board Masjid before marching along with Muslims to the Chinese Embassy.

Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister of Russia, who made evaluations on Vietnamese and Chinese press regarding the recent developments of Syria before visiting Far East countries, said the following: “It is true that we couldn’t come to terms with Turkey about identifying whether which group is terrorist or irenic/peaceable among the Kurdish groups. Turkey has a different vision about this topic than us.
