On Friday 8th September, the United Nations Refugee Agency said that at least 270,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled the Rakhine State in Myanmar in the past 2 weeks to escape the bloodbath being executed by the country’s military and armed Buddhist residents in the province.

Rohingyan Muslims has hit the headlines again. This time however, the UN is warning of an imminent humanitarian catastrophe. While the world watches on, the scorched earth policy pursued by the regime in Myanmar shows little sign of abating.

Afghan President, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, said: “Over the next four years, nearly 6 billion dollars will be spent on Afghan Air Forces.” To scrutinize the security condition and reach the problems of the armed forces, he met the military and official authorities of 201 Selaab Corps during his visit to the eastern zone of Afghanistan.

Lebanon’s rights activists had long demanded that Article 522 of the penal code be repealed. Article 522 allowed for halting the prosecution or suspending the conviction of a person who had committed rape, kidnapping or a statutory rape if he married the victim!
