On 27 January 2017 Idigul Kosimzoda, a chairman of the Committee for Women and Family Affairs to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, reported at a press conference that her committee periodically conducts raids with the participation of law enforcement agencies whose purpose is to identify the “women wearing non-Tajik clothing, that are alien to our culture”.

Pressure Causes Counter Pressure

News: According to a new survey made by the Danish newspaper Politiken and television station TV2, 37% of Muslims in Denmark feel looked down upon because of their Muslim background. The survey also states that 33% of Muslims in Denmark have experienced hardship finding a job because of their Muslim background and 32% answered that their physical appearance has been criticized because it could be connected to Islam.
