Denmark negotiated this so-called defence reservation as part of its membership of the EU, allowing it to opt out of military missions. The Russian invasion of Ukraine was the catalyst that started the debate in Danish media and politics, and a referendum was announced shortly thereafter. 66% of voters voted for abolishing these reservations in order to involve Denmark in European military policies to a greater extent.

The Canadian virtual news platform news, The London Free Press reported on the remembrance of the Muslim family that was run down by a car driven by an Islamophobic citizen. Yumna Afzaal, 15, her mom and dad, Madiha Salman, 44, and Salman Afzaal, 46, and her grandmother, Talat Afzaal, 74, were all killed June 6, 2021.
