On December 15, 2015, Saudi Arabia announced in Riyadh the formation of a new military coalition of 35 states including Turkey to fight against “terror”. Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said the following about Turkey's participation in this formation titled “Islamic Alliance Against Terror”, “Saudi Arabia invited us and we accepted. Turkey is ready to contribute by all its means to all gatherings that aim to fight terrorism, no matter where or by whom they are organised.”
