News and Comment Attacks on Islam: How Muslims should act in facing the onslaughts

News:

The past weeks have been trying times for Malaysia. As a petroleum producing nation, the huge drop in oil price has affected the country tremendously. Coupled with a weak ringgit, waning investor confidence and the prospect of experiencing one of the lowest economic growth amongst ASEAN countries, Malaysia is indeed facing much trial. Adding insult to injury, recent events related to Islam have made things worse. There is a sudden wave of attacks on anything Islamic post Charlie Hebdo killings.

Recently a lawyer, Eric Paulsen, in a number of tweets, made inflammatory claims that JAKIM, a governmental authority on Islamic matters in Malaysia have been promoting extremism through Friday sermons. Then, an ex-minister, Zaid Ibrahim, blasted the Islamic authorities and apparently, Islam, where among other things, he said that Islamic ‘extremism' kills but liberalism does not, referring to the Charlie Hebdo incident. He also insinuated that Muslims should follow the footsteps of the Jews in dealing with insults to Islam! Regretfully, the responses of the various governmental religious authorities in Malaysia does not in any way help in clearing the haze of confusion. And for the past week, discussion on Islam continues with an air of blame and defilement.

Comment:

While attacks on Islam occur at various fronts in Europe, culminating in the Charlie Hebdo killings, back home in Malaysia, the event seems to act as a catalyst when suddenly there is a barrage of propagandistic onslaught on Islam perpetrated by the Kuffar and ‘liberal' Muslims. Suddenly, labels such as extremism and fundamentalism are being flung at anything that seems Islamic. True, it is expected that the Kuffar will never stop their offensive on Islam until the day of judgement, however it is the duty of Muslims to act accordingly in facing these charges. Looking at the recent attacks on Islam, it can clearly be observed that many Muslims in Malaysia, specifically the religious authorities, looked upon the onslaught on Islam as attacks that require a defensive action. JAKIM, for example, in response to the tweets by Eric Paulsen published the list of Friday sermon titles, defensively informing the public that based on the titles, these khutbas are in no way related to extremism, as if there are parts of Islam that amounts to ‘extremism'. By following these onslaughts, a thinking Muslim will come to the rational conclusion that these attacks are not attacks on certain practices of Islam or actions of certain Muslims but an attack on the ideology of Islam itself. How then, should one respond knowing that the attack is on Islam itself?

During the Makkah period of da'wah, Rasululllah (saw) made intellectual struggle the dominant methodology in proclaiming Islam. He (saw) exposed and destroyed Jahiliyyah ideas and offered Islam as the alternative. Today, we need to follow these exact footsteps. The Kuffar West and their zealots in the Muslim world base their attacks on Islam on secularism and ideas of freedom. They pick on specific aspects of Islam, or actions of Muslims, demonize these aspects and/or actions and assert that the west is ‘far from them'. For example, Islam is regularly portrayed as anti-freedom and the ideas of freedom are frequently depicted as honourable ideas. Following his (saw) footsteps, these Jahiliyyah ideas of freedom must be exposed and destroyed. The Charlie Hebdo attack, for example, served as a platform for the West to demonize Islam. Wrongly assuming that Islam is being placed in the docks of the guilty, many Muslims blame the attackers for vilifying Islam and some even went so far as to say that Muslims should take the satires with a pinch of salt!

While it is understood that the attack does not solve any problems, we need to point out that the attack did not occur in vacuum. The claims that Charlie Hebdo was just exercising its ‘freedom of speech' in publishing the cartoons depicting the Prophet must be destroyed totally before the ideological Islam, and on this occasion, the importance of protecting the honour of our Prophet, be asserted. This could be done by firstly exposing the false justification of exercising freedom of speech by uncovering the double standard practices of the Kuffar West and secondly, destroying the very idea of freedom which is nothing but a utopian idea which only serves as the front end of deception for the Kuffar. It is amongst these dusts of destruction that Islam must then be trumpeted as an ideology from the Creator of man and universe, whose basis is rational and whose solutions encompass all aspects of life. Empirical evidences from its rich history could also be demonstrated as evidences of its success. Then, the Kuffar and their zealots will have no choice but to accept that the French newspaper is to be blamed fully for what had happened. This is how all onslaughts on Islam should be dealt with. Muslims should never ever be weary of assaults on Islam by the Kuffar. Islam is high and nothing can be higher than Islam.

How the Response should be to the Insults against the Messenger of Allah (saw) (Translated)

Another challenge by the West shook the Muslim world, in addition to what was done by Charlie Hebdo, the French weekly magazine, many of the European media re-printed the previously published cartoons about the Prophet Muhammad (saw). The Kuffar have gone even further; in 14/1/2015 CE a new edition was issued of the magazine containing new caricature drawings of the Prophet Muhammad (saw), a million copies were re-printed instead of the usual 60 thousand copies. Then they increased the number of editions to up to three million copies, and they wanted to raise the number of copies to up to five million and even seven million copies. This is unusual in the history of French newspapers and magazines; it is a stark evidence of the hatred of the West to Islam. They no longer have any respect for the Muslims, and they, i.e. the Kuffar, mock our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) openly and use the killing of the cartoonists as a pretext for their ideological attack on the Islamic values, trying to push Muslims to recognize the right of non-Muslims in mocking the values of Islam and our sanctities.

Naturally, every sincere Muslim will ask what should be done in this case, and how can we stop the insults to the Messenger of Allah (saw), and how should the real response be to this challenge, and how to punish those criminals for their crimes, and then how we work to completely eliminate abuse of the Prophet (saw) by the West?

If we look in the Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad (saw), and the Khulafaa' (ra), and the history of the Islamic State, since its inception and until the date of its destruction, it is very clear to us that Islam specified the solution to this problem, where Muslims faced similar situations several times. Islam has many Ahkam that ensure the protection of the Aqeedah, these rules have effectively prevented attempts to undermine Islam or discredit the sanctities of the Muslims over the centuries, not only within the borders of the Islamic state, but also in the territory of other countries.

It is sufficient to recall what happened in 1890 when the French writer Marc de Paris wrote the theatrical play to be displayed on stage of the Francis Comedy Theater, and it contained insults to the Prophet Muhammad (saw), so at that time the khaleefah Abdul Hameed II sent a letter to France to prevent the play from being displayed, France obeyed his orders and stopped it and sent to the Sultan the following message: "We are sure that the position we have taken towards the Sultan's orders will enhance the relationship between us...". Then the French writer attempted afterwards to show his play in Britain, and began preparing for the show in a famous English theatre; the Sultan sent another letter demanding to stop the play, so he prevented the play in Britain, and Britain apologized for their silence over the author's attempt to show his play there. It must be emphasized that this has happened when the British Empire was the number one state in the world, as is America today, and France also was one of the major powers at the time, however, the Uthmani Khilafah "Caliphate" did not allow them to insult the Prophet Muhammad (saw), and the West recognized exactly how dear to Muslims is the love the Messenger and the Deen, and they are ready to defend them and protect their values no matter what it cost them.

Thus, the state is the protector of the Aqeedah and prevented the attack on the honor of the Prophet Muhammad (saw). It is therefore imperative that everyone understands that the cartoons of the Prophet (saw) and other insults of the Islamic creed will stop only when the Islamic Khilafah "Caliphate" state is established.

From this, it is evident that the only way to prevent the insults on the Messenger of Allah (saw) is by working to establish the Khilafah "Caliphate". It is noteworthy that the Prophet (saw) met various hardships in the way of the establishment of the state, of ridicule and physical assault on his character. From them the one who threw sheep intestines on his back and another put thorns in his path, and the third put garbage at the door of his home, and the fourth poured sand over his honorable head. And the various hardships suffered by his honorable companions, and even murder. Thus, the route taken by the Prophet (saw) and his companions was to protect the Muslims and the implementation of Allah's Shariah alone, and it is the method to establish the Khilafah "Caliphate". This method involves the establishment of the bloc, that took the burden upon itself to work among the Arabs and call them to Islam, to become their Deen, and requesting the support of the people of power who protected the Prophet (saw) and gave him the rule. After 13 years of hard work, and heavy sacrifices, Allah (swt) prepared for His Prophet the Ansar (Supporters) from the people of Yathrib, which became known as Medina later, they gave him the rule and established the first state of Islam at the hands of the Prophet Muhammad (saw).

Today, the world is filled with hostility against Islam, so the mass murder of Muslims became the norm, and insulting the Prophet Muhammad (saw) is frequent.

The persecution of Muslims because of their Islam has become something natural in many countries of the world. We like to remind the Muslims that the establishment of an Islamic state is a collective duty and the responsibility of all Muslims; they must follow the path of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and his companions (ra).

As for the marches and demonstrations organized by the Muslims as a response to the insults of the Prophet (saw), although they express the anger of Muslims towards those who insult the Messenger of Allah (saw), but they do not produce a direct impact to stop the insults, so the response must not be limited to venting out steam followed by silence and acceptance. The real response must be by the Islamic Ummah as a whole to work to establish the Khilafah "Caliphate" according to the method of the Prophet (saw). By then the enemies of Islam will be held accountable for their actions in front of the Ameer of believers, a just Khaleefah, as did the Khaleefah Abdul Hameed II. The establishment of the second guided Khilafah "Caliphate" will only restore for Muslims their glory and will protect them, and will make the enemies of Islam feel again that they cannot infringe upon Muslim values and sanctities.

Allah (swt) says:

"Allah has promised those who have believed among you and done righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them and that He will surely establish for them [therein] their religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, [for] they worship Me, not associating anything with Me. But whoever disbelieves after that - then those are the defiantly disobedient" [An-Nur: 55]

Question and Answer Developments in Yemen - Salman bin Abdul Aziz Assumes the Rule in Saudi

There are interesting events in Yemen and Saudi Arabia; the Houthis have taken over Sanaa, the government resigned and then the President of the Republic on the evening of 22/01/2015 ... Then King Abdullah in Saudi Arabia, died the morning of Friday, 23/01/2015 and was succeeded by King Salman bin Abdul Aziz. My question is in twofold: I: Are the events in Yemen still as issued by the party on 1/10/2014? And what is the expected solution? II: Does the receipt of Salman Bin Abdul Aziz of power after King Abdullah change in the policy of Saudi Arabia or have matters remained the same?
