Details:

US Bankrolled Anti-Morsi Activists:

President Barack Obama recently stated the United States was not taking sides as Egypt's crisis came to a head with the military overthrow of the democratically elected president. But a review of dozens of US federal government documents shows Washington has quietly funded senior Egyptian opposition figures who called for toppling of the country's now-deposed president Mohamed Morsi. Documents obtained by the Investigative Reporting Program at UC Berkeley show the US channeled funding through a State Department programme to promote democracy in the Middle East region. This programme vigorously supported activists and politicians who have fomented unrest in Egypt, after autocratic president Hosni Mubarak was ousted in a popular uprising in February 2011. The State Department's programme, dubbed by US officials as a "democracy assistance" initiative, is part of a wider Obama administration effort to try to stop the retreat of pro-Washington secularists, and to win back influence in Arab Spring countries that saw the rise of Islamists, who largely oppose US interests in the Middle East. A main conduit for channeling the State Department's democracy funds to Egypt has been the National Endowment for Democracy. Federal documents show NED, which in 2011 was authorised an annual budget of $118m by Congress, funneled at least $120,000 over several years to an exiled Egyptian police officer who has for years incited violence in his native country.  This appears to be in direct contradiction to its Congressional mandate, which clearly states NED is to engage only in "peaceful" political change overseas. Colonel Omar Afifi Soliman - who served in Egypt's elite investigative police unit, notorious for human rights abuses - began receiving NED funds in 2008 for at least four years. In an interview with the Investigative Reporting Program at UC Berkeley, Soliman reluctantly admitted he received US government funding from the National Endowment for Democracy, but complained it wasn't enough. "It is like $2000 or $2,500 a month," he said. "Do you think this is too much? Obama wants to give us peanuts. We will not accept that." On a YouTube video, Soliman took credit for a failed attempt in December to storm the Egyptian presidential palace with handguns and Molotov cocktails to oust Morsi. "We know he gets support from some groups in the US, but we do not know he is getting support from the US government. This would be news to us," said an Egyptian embassy official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media. [Source:  Aljazeera]

Syria Chemical Weapons 'Most Worrying Terror Threat to UK':

Al-Qaeda could gain access to Syria's stockpiles of chemical weapons with "catastrophic" consequences, a UK parliamentary committee has warned. The Intelligence and Security Committee's annual report said spy chiefs considered this UK's "the most worrying emerging terrorist threat". They also had no doubt that "vast stockpiles" of chemical weapons had been amassed in Syria, the ISC said. Al-Qaeda and "individual jihadists" were both seen as threats, it added. "There is a risk of extremist elements in Syria taking advantage of the permissive environment to develop external attack plans, including against Western targets," the ISC, which oversees the work of the intelligence agencies, said in its annual report. Protests in Syria, inspired by the Arab Spring which saw changes of government in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya, were brutally suppressed by security forces in 2011. The stand-off has since escalated into a civil war which has claimed tens of thousands of lives so far, according to UN estimates. [Source: BBC]

Pakistan Quietly Preparing for Civil War in Afghanistan:

Recognising the realities on the ground leading to fast changing events inside Afghanistan, with no one having a clue to what might happen subsequently after NATO withdraws next year, Pakistan is focusing on how to ‘secure' its own territory, as it does not rule out a ‘civil war' once again. It appears to be ready to face a blowback this time around. It is for this reason that it realises that it is imperative to focus on a ‘contingency plan' and avoid a situation where its own fragile internal security receives a further jolt from its western borders. "It is difficult to understand and uncertainties surround us -- but if nothing moves we are heading towards a civil war (inside Afghanistan) which we want to avoid. Specially, if all reconciliation efforts do not succeed then there is likelihood of civil war. Then there will be a spill over into Pakistan and this will create its own problems, especially from the Pakistan Taliban", said diplomatic sources in a meeting with the media here. It is for this reason, said one of them, that this contingency plan has to ensure a scenario, which ensures that Pakistan's own territory is well protected. As prices of property keep rising in areas outside Peshawar in anticipation of what comes next from across the Durrand Line, at this point the diplomat said the government could not contemplate the number of Afghan refugees that could flow in if there is a civil war. However, there appeared some room for optimism, the diplomat said even though the Afghan Taliban have closed their Qatar office temporarily to protest demands that they remove a sign which said that the Qatar office was that of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. "This could just be a ‘tactical' move by the Afghan Taliban to get noticed. The situation was mishandled in Qatar. However, talks can still be held in places other than the Qatar office, and also talks with the Northern Alliance can be held separately", added the diplomat. Another ‘tactical' move that Pakistan points out is when out of sheer frustration with Hamid Karzai, Obama has threatened considering speeding up the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, ensuring that there would be none left after 2014. Pakistan is also getting a sense that some Taliban groups are getting tired of the war and efforts should be made to get other such like-minded groups to support them. "Otherwise the hardliners will take over," he said. His comments came at a time when the Pakistani Taliban announced the dismissal of its spokesman, Ehsanullah Ehsan, signaling a further split amongst the militants.[Source: News International]

China Has World's Most Active Missile Programs, US Says:

China's military has the world's "most active and diverse ballistic missile program," with an expanding inventory of nuclear warheads that can reach the US, according to a Pentagon intelligence report. The arsenal includes a new submarine-launched JL-2 ballistic missile that will for the first time let Chinese submarines target parts of the U.S. from near China's coast, the National Air and Space Intelligence Center said in a new assessment obtained by Bloomberg News. China is boosting its missile program under a broader military modernization plan that's seen the country's defense spending more than double since 2006. China's neighbors including Japan and the Philippines have expressed concern that its government is becoming more aggressive in the region, as the U.S. also puts new emphasis on forces in the Asia-Pacific. Some of China's weapons are "specifically designed to prevent adversary military forces' access to regional conflicts," the report said. It's an update to one released in 2009. China is developing and testing new missiles, upgrading older systems, forming new missile units and working on ways to counter missile defenses, the report said. The number of Chinese nuclear warheads capable of hitting the U.S. "could expand to well over 100 within the next 15 years," it said. [Source: Bloomberg]

-From the Calamities of Western Civilization- Homosexuality has Redefined Husband and Wife in the Name of Unrestrained Freedom

  • Published in Analysis
  •   |

The British Government has re-written the legal dictionary to say that the word ‘wife' - "will include a woman married to another woman or a man married to a man" according to the Telegraph Newspaper (28/6/2013), and the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that there is no impediment to the state of California "issuing same-sex marriage licenses", thereby opening the door to 13 other U.S. states to approve same-sex marriages according to CNN-Washington (30/6/2013).  U.S. President Barack Obama was so proud of developments in the Supreme Court that he declared: "When all Americans are treated as equal, no matter who they are or whom they love, we are all more free."

This depraved cult of unrestrained freedom and equality has seduced the world with its madness this year: France and New Zealand approved same-sex marriage in April, and the freshly returned Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, declared that he "sought to make his personal conversion to supporting gay marriage a central election issue and pitch to young voters, proudly declaring that he was Australia's first marriage-equality prime minister and was committed to marriage law reform", according to the Australian newspaper last week.

Hizb ut Tahrir says: "Marriage is sacred in Islam, and it is a fundamental pillar of human society and has been so throughout human history, and yet the world's democracies have dared to redefine not only the language of marriage, wife and husband, but also the nature of human society at an organic level."

Democracy has certainly taken its devotees a long way down the same road to destruction that the people of Lut travelled before them, and their enmity towards Islam is the same as that of those people, to whom Allah (swt) sent His noble Prophet, Lut, to warn them against the practice of homosexuality:

"Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds, And his people gave no answer but this: they said, "Drive them out of your city: these are indeed men who want to be clean and pure!"" [Qur'an 7:80-82]

Oh Muslims, beware of the rulers, and enslaved mentalities from amongst you, who are careless about the danger of submitting to the leadership and guidance of nations who have aligned their whole legal systems with the lusts of deviant people. The mad procession of democracy and equality attacks you, and attacks your pure men and women and attacks all that you hold sacred every day. The path of moral decay is an inevitable fruit of the false ideology of democracy, and can lead only to Allah's wrath and destruction in this life and the next.

The National Budget is a Tool of Deception, Lies and Empty Promises

  • Published in News & Comment
  •   |

Event:

On June 30, 2013; the Bangladesh Parliament passed the national budget of Taka 2,225 billion for the 2013-14 financial year. After the budget was proposed on June 6 by the Finance Minister, there were no discussions by the political parties in the parliament about the economic policies and strategies for development or sources of revenues and areas of expenditures. Rather these parties passed the sessions in the parliament making accusations of personal scandals against each other, totally bypassing the interests of the Ummah.

Comment:

In all budgets under the capitalist system, sources of revenue, in other words, money taken from the people is a process of zulm (oppression) while the allocation of resources is a source of corruption, without giving any priority to the people's needs. Especially, the national budget in Bangladesh has become a tool of deception, lies and empty promises. Ruling Awami League in its election manifesto in 2008 explicitly mentioned that number of poor population will be reduced from 65 million to 45 million by 2013 and number of unemployed will be reduced from 28 million to 24 million by 2013. This is the year 2013 and the Finance Minister conveniently forgot the number of poor and unemployed in his budget speech. Hiding behind statistics, he barely mentioned that the poverty ratio declined by 10 percent compared to 2005, quoting a survey of 2010. Regarding employment, he hid behind another statistic - ‘man-months' instead of the number of unemployed people.

To eliminate poverty, which is again defined and changed as the World Bank wishes, the government undertakes various social safety programs. Last year, the allocated amount was Taka 1,384 million and proposed amount for the next year is Taka 2,275 million. In a recent survey by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), it was revealed that the target poor populace for these programmes, which represents 40 percent of the total population, ended up receiving only 55 percent of the benefits. The rest 45 percent of social safety net benefits ended up with the richer 60 percent, who do not fall in the poorest or most vulnerable category. So, basically all these so called social safety net programs are a source of corruption and often the resources of these programs are used as political tools by the local political thugs.

Another priority election pledge by the Awami League was declaration of a target for power generation. The government vowed in its election manifesto that power generation will be increased to 7,000MW by 2013, which in any case is very low from the existing demand point of view. On June 30, 2013, maximum power generation was 6,041MW, even after looting public money in the name of quick rentals. The zalim government has also looted money from the people by increasing the price of electricity six times in the last four and half years following the dictates of the IMF. The whole country is now boiling under the heat of summer while load shedding is happening every hour in the cities and for hours on in the rural areas. Along with the power projects, the Hasina government presented the nation with massive corruptions in the capital market, Padma Bridge and other infrastructure projects, banking sector and multi-level-marketing (MLM) companies.

The Ummah is betrayed again and again by the rulers with various words and statistics. Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (ra) narrated that Allah's Messenger (saw) said:

: «أَلَا إِنَّ لِكُلِّ غَادِرٍ لِوَاءً يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِقَدْرِ غَدْرَتِهِ أَلَا وَلَا غَدْرَ أَعْظَمُ مِنْ إِمَامِ عَامَّةٍ»

"Everyone who had betrayed a trust would have a banner on the Day of Resurrection to the extent of his betrayal in the world, and that no betrayal was greater than that of the ruler of the common people, whose banner would be fixed onto his posterior." (Tirmidhi)

Allah (swt) has given us a system which solves the problems of people instead of deceiving them. Islam has defined the basic needs of human beings and the Khaleefah, the ruler of the Islamic State, is bound to deliver the basic necessities to the citizens. Our Prophet (saw) said,

"The son of Adam has no better right than that he would have a house wherein he may live and a piece of cloth whereby he may hide his nakedness and a piece of bread and some water." (Al-Bayhaki)

Accordingly, Hizb ut Tahrir, in its draft constitution, states in the Article 125:

‘Every individual must have all his basic needs provided for completely by the State.'

The draft constitution also states in Article 153:

‘The State should provide employment for all subjects holding citizenship of the State.'

It also mentions in the Article 156:

‘The State is to guarantee the living expenses of the one who has no money, no work and no relatives responsible for his financial maintenance.'

In the Islamic State, GDP and its growth will not be the target; rather the satisfying individual's basic needs will be the focus of the state. Khilafah "Caliphate" will generate employment by putting priority on agriculture and industrial sector as well as the military. Utilizing energy resources will be the driver behind industrialization in the Khilafah "Caliphate" state. Islam does not allow privatization of electricity. Electricity generation energy like gas, oil, coal etc are public resources. Our Prophet (saw) said:

«الْمُسْلِمُونَ شُرَكَاءُ فِي ثَلَاثٍ فِي الْمَاءِ وَالْكَلَإِ وَالنَّارِ وَثَمَنُهُ حَرَامٌ»

"The Muslims are partners in three things: waters, feeding pastures and fire." (Ahmad). So, Khilafah "Caliphate" government will not make profit, rather it will ensure benefits of electricity and energy to mass people at an affordable price.

In the Islamic ruling system the Khaleefah is accountable to the people for all his actions. He will set economic policies of the state according to Islam as he is bound to rule people on the basis of Qur'an and Sunnah. Khaleefah takes responsibility to solve people's problems. So, people must abandon the capitalist system and come forward to establish the Khilafah "Caliphate" system, the only ruling system that Allah (swt) has given us.
