Only the Islamic State can Liberate the Ummah from the Tyrants

Alhamdulillah! Recently, we have witnessed the Ummah in the Muslim lands rise up against tyranny. The blessed uprising began in Tunisia, where the Ummah took to the streets to end the tyrannical rule of Ben Ali. They confronted the tyrant despitethe threat of torture and even death. The uprising then spread to other parts of the Muslim world. In Egypt, Libya, Yemen, and Bahrain, Muslims came out of the masajid after Jumu'ah prayers to demand an end to the decades of slavery, humiliation and injustice. In Syria, the fight against Bashar al-Assad continues to this day, by the hands of Muslims who refuse to bow down to any authority other than Allah (swt) alone.

As was expected, the tyrants did not go peacefully. Instead, they unleashed their batons, bullets and bombs upon the unarmed protesters. But by Allah's (swt) leave, the protestors refused to submit. It is clear by the Islamic slogans resonating in the streets of every major Syrian city that the protesters' source of strength and inspiration comes from their unwavering Imaan in Allah (swt).

We congratulate the Ummah on the fall of Gaddafi, Mubarak and Ben Ali. However, the struggle must continueas the regimes have unfortunately survived thedemise of their figureheads. These regimes are attempting to deceive this noble Ummah by hiding behind the slogan of the so-called "dowlah madiniyah" or the "civil state." Such slogans come from regimes that were forced to change their appearance, realizing that the Ummahhas rejected the secular order of society. Until now, the transformation across the Middle-East has only changed how the regimes are perceived without affecting their secular nature. The Ummah should therefore not let itself be deceived, but must recognize that the "civil state" is just another mask worn by the same regimes that have oppressed the Ummah for decades. As the Prophet's (saw) companion Rabiah Ibn 'Amir (ra) explained to the Persian general Rostum: "Allah Azza wa jal has sent us to deliver you from worshiping the creation to worshiping the Creator of the creation and to deliver you from the constriction of this world to the vastness of this world and the after-life and from the oppression ofthe religions to the justice of Islam.

Allah Azza wa jal has sent us to save you from worshiping each other. "The Muslim Ummah must realize that true liberation is liberation from the rule of man. It lies in the submission to the rule ofAllah (swt). We must also realize that true justice can only be delivered by implementing the shari'ah of Allah (swt) and that the only path to 'izzah (honour) and dignity is through full submission and obedience to our Master, Allah (swt):

"Whosoever desires honour, power and glory then to Allah belong all honour, power and glory." [TMQ 35:10]

These uprisings must continue until the Ummah uproots the corrupt regimes and restores the rule of Islam, and is able to implement the Deen of Allah (swt) in a complete and comprehensive manner, without compromise and without delay, emulating the example of RasulAllah (saw) and the righteous Khulafa (Caliphs) (ra) after him. Allah (swt) revealed:"Allah has promised to those among you who believe and work righteous deeds, that He will of a surety grant them in the land, inheritance (of power), as He granted it to those before them; that He will establish in authority their Deen, the one which He has chosen for them; and that He will change (their state) after the fear in which they (lived), to one of security and peace." [TMQ 24:55]  May Allah (swt) guide this Ummah to see through the deception and may He (swt) help our brothers and sisters in al-Sham to overthrow the evil regime and establish in authority the Deen of Allah (swt).

Rabi' al Awwal - Reflecting upon Life of the Prophet (salallahu alaihi wasallam) means to Implement the Deen of Islam

Allah (swt) says in the Quran:

((وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ))

"And we have not sent you (O Muhammad) except as a mercy to the all the worlds." [Surah 21:107].

When Muslims around the world reflect upon the life of the Prophet (salallahu alaihi wasallam) this month, we look at his mercy manifest in his noble birth, his personal qualities, his noble appearance, and his life of sacrifice, simplicity, zuhd and piety - a grateful servant of Allah (swt).  We also look at the status that Allah (swt) has given him in this world - Khairu-Khalqihi (the best of creation), the master of Messengers - and in the Akhira, the one given the right of intercession with Allah (swt) on the Last Day.

However, can we do justice to remembering his life by reducing his (salallahu alaihi wasallam) mercy to just individual acts of ‘ibadah? Surely his (salallahu alaihi wasallam) life encompasses his message and mission, which were central to why Allah Ta'ala sent him (salallahu alaihi wasallam) as a Messenger to humanity.

O Prophet. We have you sent as a witness, as a bearer of good news and as a Warner. And as one to calls to Allah, by His Permission, and as a lamp spreading light.' [Surah 33:45-46].

His (salallahu alaihi wasallam) message was a mercy that defined a distinct way of life - a set of ideas of why we exist, what our purpose of life is, where we will go after this life and who should be the source of all values, laws and systems in society. Rasool Allah (salallahu alaihi wasallam) came in a society that was steeped in jahilliyah- a society where the rulers oppressed the ruled, where corruption and cheating was rife, women were treated as objects, the orphan's wealth was taken illegally and people were valued by the colour of their skin and class. Rasool Allah (salallahu alaihi wasallam) launched a mighty struggle against these man-made practices and led a struggle to uproot the darkness of jahillyah and establish a society based on the values, laws and systems revealed by Allah (swt).

Allah Ta'ala says: ‘Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book which We have revealed to you (O Muhammad) so that you might bring mankind out of darkness into the light by permission of their Lord - to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy'. [Surah 14:1]

Rabi' ibn Amr, was sent as an envoy to the Persian leader Rustom in the time of the Khilafah "Caliphate" Rashida. He told Rustom "Allah sent us to deliver you from the servitude of man to the servitude of the Lord of man and from the unjust nature of other religions to the justice of Islam and from the constriction of this Dunya to the vast life of the Hereafter."

People who do not submit to Allah (swt) will naturally end up submitting to something else from the creation of Allah. In previous generations, people submitted to other men like tribal leaders, emperors and kings.

Nothing has changed today! Today people submit to the laws and rules made by men in the form of dictators and ‘democrats'. Today it is the politicians in collusion with the high priests of capitalism - bankers and big business that are subjugating the people. The result is a world dominated by a way of life that keeps people consumed in darkness chasing nothing other than material desires. A world where women are used as sexual objects in the name of ‘liberation', where the poorest three billion people in the world live on less than $2 a day and where the evil of racism still persists and Muslims and others live in fear of being bombed and killed every day.

The Prophet (salallahu alaihi wasallam) held on to Quran & Sunnah and worshipped Allah (swt) alone - and Allah (swt) made him victorious, establishing his authority in Madinah al Munnawwara and the whole Arabian Peninsula. His (salallahu alaihi wasallam) successors the righteous guided Khulafa, did the same, implementing Quran and Sunnah in reality - and Allah (swt) made them victorious spreading the light of Islam from modern day Persia in the east to Egypt in the west.

Islam spread its light to the world from what is now called Morocco to South Asia - unifying the people. Allah ‘Azza wa Jal brought millions of people out of lives of war and conflict, poverty and tyrannical rule to the peace, justice and mercy of Islam - a golden age when education, scholarship, healthcare and technology flourished.

Today Muslims across the world commemorate the life of the Messenger of Allah (salallahu alaihi wasallam),but as an Ummah we do not implement his message nor continue his noble mission. Our countries are dominated by much of the same jahillyah that was in Makkah 1400 years ago. What makes it still worse is that all Muslim countries today surrender their political and economic will to the colonial powers; a matter that the Arab Peninsula never experienced even in the time of jahiliyyah. The Ummah today is living under the darkness of corrupt and oppressive rulers - divided into numerous weak national identities and states - and defying his (salallahu alaihi wasallam) Sunnah in governance, economy, law and order, relations between men and women in society and international affairs. The state and government that was the Sunnah of the Prophet (salallahu alaihi wasallam) - the Khilafah "Caliphate" - has been replaced by secular man-made laws and rules.

Across the Muslim world, increasing numbers of Muslims are struggling to see Islam as a way of life implemented in a state, which will then carry the message and mercy of Islam to the whole of mankind. It is for this reason that the West mock and ridicule the personality and mission of Rasool Allah (salallahu alaihi wasallam) to prevent people seeing the true Message of Islam that Rasool Allah (salallahu alaihi wasallam) brought as a ‘Mercy for mankind'. Islam is depicted as backward and medieval, oppressive to women, violent and barbaric. This at a time when humanity can see how western man-made systems of secularism and democracy have brought chaos to the world - third world poverty, wars for grabbing resources, cozying up to tyrants by western governments for their interests and now austerity cuts paid for by the masses to keep the corrupt capitalist system afloat.

The Quraysh used the same propaganda tactics when Rasool Allah (salallahu alaihi wasallam) launched his call in Makkah. But the Prophet (salallahu alaihi wasallam) was never deterred in his mission to establish this Deen. He (salallahu alaihi wasallam) persevered with patience depending on Allah (swt) and never allowed any of the difficulties he (salallahu alaihi wasallam) faced to slow him down in his mission or shy away from speaking about the truth of this Deen.

This is the struggle that is taking place between Islam and Secularism - between the system revealed by Allah (swt) and the system made by man's own hands, which has now gone bust.

As we commemorate the life of the Prophet (salallahu alaihi wasallam) let us enthuse ourselves with the same zeal and determination of the Prophet (salallahu alaihi wasallam) and his (salallahu alaihi wasallam) beloved Companions (ra). Let us rise to the challenge of carrying this Dawah to the people of the West, presenting Islam as an alternative for humanity and the Khilafah "Caliphate" State as the State that will stand up against the atrocities of man-made systems we see in the world today.

There has come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Your suffering is distressing to him. He is deeply concerned for you. He is gentle and merciful towards the believers. But if they turn away, say "Allah is enough for me. There is no god but Him. I put my trust in Him. He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne."' [Surah 9:128-129].

Search for Kenya's 4th President

  • Published in News & Comment
  •   |

News:

NAIROBI, KENYA - Kenyans now have eight names from which to elect the country's fourth president in next month's transitional General Election which will crown President Kibaki's retirement.

After clearing and handing nomination certificates to the presidential candidates, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will now press on with printing of ballot papers ahead of the March 4 elections.  [Source: "The Standard" - Friday, 01.02.2013]

Comment:

The coming General Election is the 5th since the West brought their colonialist democratic politics of multi-parties in Kenya under the pretext of rescuing Kenya. Among the eight presidential candidates, the major battle will be between Raila Odinga (age 68) of the CORD (Coalition of Reforms and Democracy) coalition who sides with America and Uhuru Kenyatta (age 51) of the Jubilee Alliance. Uhuru is the son of late first President of Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta.

This election is eagerly awaited in and outside Kenya. Western countries, especially Britain and America, are closely monitoring this election. The main concern being the security situation and the question being asked is, will Kenya experience again deaths and post election violence as witnessed in 2007? Already, the nomination exercise was marred by violence in several towns.

Under all situations, important notes are:

Victory for one of the vying candidates will have no interests of the public at heart but they will continue to be milked by the elite rulers. Economic researches indicate that the coming government will cost the taxpayer Shs. 21.26 billion every year. The Kibaki government that is leaving office has burdened the public with a debt of 1.14 trillion! Most of the candidates served in the governments of Kibaki, Moi and Kenyatta which were full of corrupt deals. Therefore, none among them will care for the interests of the public as they promise in their campaigns. Their objective is to fill their stomachs as all of them are students of capitalism.

It won't be a surprise for this election to be marred by violence but it will be a confirmation of the Western lies that these politics will guarantee Africa peace, development and economic growth. The truth revealed that democracy is the source of political turmoil, poverty and other ills not only Kenya but in the whole of the African continent. Since democratic politicians are guided by interests, a principle that is valued by capitalism, it is no surprise then for them to kill as long as they obtain their objectives.

It is an open secret that there is angling between Britain and America for Kenyan resources. These countries employ politicians to be their agents so as to preserve the interests of their masters. Since oil has been discovered, then this duel will continue in Kenya until it is rescued by the Khilafah "Caliphate" state which is bound by the Islamic ideology that will end the colonialist politics that emanates from the evil Capitalist ideology.

Obama's Inauguration and the Future of America

  • Published in Politics
  •   |

On 21 January 2013 Barack Hussein Obama was sworn in as president of the United States of America, in his second inauguration. His inauguration this time around was a much scaled down event from the euphoria of his first term, with a much more conciliatory tone, with lots of talk about the middle ground. It was obvious that the reality of ruling has fundamentally shaped Obama's perceptions and will dominate his second term. US presidents are constrained by numerous factors in the US political system including the fact that the Democrats will be running for elections in exactly two years' time, again, for the House of Representatives.

Obama is well known for his oratory skills and has inauguration speech was full of America's unique role in the world and the opportunities that exist for the US public. It is only natural a US president would give a positive and upbeat speech in his inauguration, however he will ultimately be measured by what he does as this is what will be looked at when he is long gone.

When Obama rose to power in January 2009, the US was reeling from a decade of war, its economy was shrinking after numerous bailouts and stimulus packages failed to halt the ‘great recession,' and Russia and China were taking a much more aggressive posture towards US global ambitions. The US was caught on the back foot when the Ummah in what has come to be known as the Arab spring took to the streets to bring change in their countries.

Irrespective of the rhetoric from the Whitehouse, there are a number of strategic issues the US will face in the next 5 years and these in all likelihood will not just define Obama's legacy but US prowess around the world.

US Debt

The USA has a precarious debt situation, one that should have had the US credit rating downgraded a long time ago. Whilst the US may generate more than $15 trillion a year, it is debt that fuels this. The US national debt - the money the central and federal government owes to the US public and the world through the bonds (or IOU's) they have issued - stands at $16.4 trillion. Interest payments on this debt were $3.3 trillion in 2012. This debt emanates from US citizenry's huge appetite for imports and credit cards and as a result consumer debt stands at $864 billion. The desire by American's to own their own homes has resulted in mortgage debts of $12.9 trillion. The debts of US companies amounts to $20.8 trillion. This makes the US indebted to the tune of $52 trillion - more than the combined economies of Japan, China Britain, Germany, France, Brazil, Canada and Italy twice over.

Successive US presidents have increased the amount the US can borrow and constantly rolled over this debt. This rather flexible debt "ceiling" has been raised 34 times since it first was raised over the $1 trillion level in September 1981. The fiscal cliff debacle resulted in congress debating what should happen to the ceiling as the US was fast approaching its limits, due to postponing any solution during the debt ceiling debacle in February 2010. The US once again postponed any tax hikes and spending reduction for another day in effect not dealing with America's unsalable appetite for debt.

For the moment postponing this debt has been the solution, however as this debt grows, America's ability to realistically meet its annual payments will raise the prospects of default and this will impact America's global position which is built upon constantly turning over this debt.

Afghanistan

The US and its allies are all looking to extricate themselves from Afghanistan after a decade of war. Whilst 2014 is the official date when most of America's allies will completely withdraw their troops the challenge for the US is its small presence, which will remain beyond 2014, will struggle to deal with the political architecture that it created.

The US architecture consists of an acceptable dictator, who has struggled to impose his writ beyond his own headquarters. Hamid Karzai has been struggling for years and its unlikely his government will last. This necessitates negotiations with the real power in the country - the Taliban, to shape the country's political future. Obama since he has been in power has made numerous statements which reflect Washington's exploration of ways to talk with and apply pressure on the Taliban to achieve a favourable bargaining position. These have all failed, as the Taliban are winning and do not see the need to negotiate. With a smaller force remaining beyond 2014, the Taliban will be playing a role in the country whatever the outcome, the issue for Obama is can he get the Taliban to enter its political architecture before US elections in 2016.

China

America's biggest challenge is China's assertiveness in the Asia-Pacific. The rise of an alternative power in the region means the loss of critical sea routes for trade and energy directly linked to the US economy and the loss of key tools for containing other nations reliant upon the routes in the region for their economies. Dollar-for-dollar the US military has various military systems to deal with any Chinese aggression, however China has a presence in the region, whilst the US just has a coast line thousands of miles away from the Asia-pacific region. As the region is far from the US, any intervention will require long lines of communication, multiple logistical hubs and forward-positioned supplies. Because the Western Pacific constitutes China's home waters, China's military assets do not have to travel from half way across the world to get to the Asian military theatre as America's must. In the event of war, the US may only get to the theatre when the war is over.

For the first time since the collapse of the Soviet Union the US faces a challenge to its hegemony. This challenge, whilst not to its global position, possess a challenge in one region of the world for the US and comes at a time when China views the US to have weakened due to a decade of war.

Whilst the US is developing its Air-Sea battle concept, the central tenet of which involves very close coordination of US Air Force and Navy capabilities. For the moment, the US military will rely on ports and air bases across theAsia-Pacific region.

Economic growth

Obama's second term will in all likelihood be judged by his domestic performance. The sheer size of the US economy means fluctuations affect the whole global economy. Ever since the financial crisis began various attempts to kick start economic growth have failed one after the other. Initially the Bush government proposed legislation for the government to purchase up to $700 billion of "troubled mortgage-related assets" from financial firms. Then when Obama became president he implemented a stimulus package worth $825 billion (5.8% of GDP). He then later promised more stimulus money for the green economy in the hope of stimulating the wider economy.

The America's economy is dominated by consumer spending and is heavily dependent on the American population's appetite to continually consume. The collapse of the sub-prime market and then the whole real estate market in the US led to consumer spending to drop as many lost their homes, this drop in spending led to a fall in spending in wholesale trade and retail - the twin engines of the US economy.

The US administration continued with stimulus plans in the hope of reviving the US economy. Today, 12.8 million Americans are unemployed, 8.2 million cannot find enough work, and 1.1 million have given up looking for work altogether. For 38 straight months, unemployment has been higher than what the US administration promised.Stimulus entails increasing government spending using money that is borrowed primarily from abroad in the case of the US from countries such as China, or simply created by central banks literally by entering digits into a computer. Any stimulus was always a high-octane boost and a temporary measure. They are designed to kick-start stalled economies, not to fuel sustained economic growth. The growth that has been achieved is really the inflated results of stimulus measures achieving their intended effect to be temporary.

Arab spring

Since the events of 9/11 the ideological divide between the US and the Muslim world has become more and more obvious. With issues constantly taking place which are ideological in nature, add to this the Arab spring where the Muslim world is taking its destiny into its own hands the US is losing support in the Muslim world very fast. The film insulting the prophet (saw) in 2012 is a clear case in point.

Human rights and the free market which for long were US brands are no longer values the Muslims globally are aspiring for. US occupation of Muslim lands, Guantanamo Bay, Abu Gharib and the constant attacks on Islam in the name of Freedom have polarised the world. Ideological Muslims globally are calling for Islam, the Arab spring has shown they can rise up to change the status quo, in Obama's last term the US will have to contend with the political aspirations of the Muslim world.

Syria

The opposition forces in Syria, who lack heavy weapons, have successfully created a stalemate with the regime. The regime has been unable to successfully lead attacks deep into rebel held territory due to the decentralised nature of the uprising. The US has given the regime ample time to quell the uprisings thorough solutions which realistically were never going to placate the opposition. Currently the regime has set up defensive positions in Aleppo and Damascus. Opposition forces have focused on Aleppo and have had success in attacking the regime supply lines from Damascus to Aleppo and are not far away from cutting of Aleppo from the regime. The capture of the Taftanaz base weakened the Assad regime further. When this occurs the regime in Damascus can only hold out for so long and the very real prospect of the overthrow of the regime and replacement by someone who represents the people will likely unfold, bringing an end to US influence in the country.

Women Need Islam, Not Feminism

  • Published in Analysis
  •   |

Natasha Walter, acclaimed British feminist campaigner, today claimed that women still need feminism.  She said feminism had changed and women today did have the freedom to be what they wanted, but were still in more need than ever of feminism due to ‘real and urgent' challenges women still faced.

I could not agree more with Walter on one thing - that the challenges women face today are without a doubt, real and urgent. As Walter has described in her previous writings, the sexualisation of women is a crippling and overbearing attitude, valuing women for the size of their waist, the symmetry of their face, over what contributions they could make to society - to the point that being pretty becomes the sole aspiration of masses of young girls.

Despite the Government passing an Equal Pay Act over 40 years ago, the Chartered Management Institute research showed that it would still take till 2067, for the gender pay gap to diminish - meaning society is still on a long way yet to value the contributions women make for what those contributions are, over the gender of the person they arise from. And Prime Minister David Cameron's patronising "calm down dear" comment to a female Minister in the Houses of Parliament may have been forgotten, but it does not take away from the true reality it exposed of how the majority of women are really seen and treated in high level positions and scenarios.

So there is absolutely a real struggle for women not just in the UK, but in the entire Western world. However where I would care to disagree with Walter is how we will overcome this struggle for once and for good. Walter may herald the freedoms women have gained and now enjoy, and propose that it is through these freedoms we continue to struggle, but what she must realise is that these are the very same freedoms which have inspired big business to exploit the woman to advertise a product, violating her honour. It is these same freedoms which make men feel that it is acceptable to use and abuse a woman how you want, for your own desires as has been reflected in the recent Government statistics, revealing 1 in every 5 women in the UK has been a victim of a sexual offence. It is these freedoms which have allowed society to feel free to revel in their prejudices of women; prejudices which assert that women do not have the abilities or same potential as men to be able to achieve like them in a job or role, leading to the glass ceiling, or unequal pay for the same job. So although many feminists like Walter will argue that more freedom for women has been the positive story of feminism, I would argue that with these freedoms and so-called rights, have paradoxically brought women's exploitation. Thus feminists must understand that if they continue to campaign for their rights within the framework of a liberal, free society, ultimately they will be chasing their own tail - they will never meet their ends as this same freedom will continue to simultaneously exploit women and belittle them.

It is incumbent therefore that women globally look towards a system which banishes from the onset the idea that society is free to exploit and treat the woman how they want.  The Islamic Khilafah "Caliphate", obligates society to view and treat women according to the value that Allah (swt) assigned to them, which is of great honour. Such a society would provide no room for prejudice, no room for exploitation in how they viewed her, as everyone from men to businesses would be accountable to a Higher Being, Allah (swt), in how they treated her.  Unless feminists look towards the alternative of Islam, it is sad to say they will not meet their ends.

Britain and France in North Africa Repeated Invasion of Muslim Countries Cannot be Stopped without the Islamic Khilafah State

Cameron's recent visit to North Africa is more about Britain's desperate attempt to gain influence in the region rather than combating terrorism. In Algeria, he signed a security pact with the current autocratic ruler Abdelaziz Bouteflika. Following this he went to Libya pledging British training and advice for the police and army.
