On the occasion of the 87th anniversary of the destruction of the Caliphate, Hizb ut-Tahrir Kenya held a Khilafah "Caliphate" conference on Sunday 3rd August 2008 in Mombasa. Speeches were delivered in Swahili, English and Arabic.

Hizb ut-Tahrir (Party of Liberation) supporters calling for a worldwide Islamic state have marched through Gaza for the first time.

About 3,000 demonstrators waved black flags and shouted slogans calling for a global Islamic government Thursday. Hizb ut-Tahrir seeks to establish a caliphate that would govern the world according to Islamic law. The group is banned in several countries, including Russia, Germany and some Arab states.

The group says it uses nonviolent means but is seen as ideologically close to Jihadist groups.

The group's activities are outlawed in the West Bank. This week, 20 group members were arrested in the West Bank city of Hebron.

The members of Hizb ut-Tahrir oppose the Islamic Hamas, which rules Gaza.

Hizb ut-Tahrir was established in 1952, in then-Jordanian-controlled Jerusalem, by Sharia court judge Taqi al-Din al Nabhani, from the village of Ijzim, near Haifa. The party's goal is the reestablishment of an Islamic caliphate to govern the whole Muslim world under Islamic law - and eventually to bring the entire world under Islamic rule. The caliphate, a title that had been claimed by Ottoman sultans since the fall of the Abbasid Caliphate, was formally abolished by Turkey's founding father Kemal Ataturk in 1924.

In its half-century of existence, Hizb ut-Tahrir has developed into an international Islamist organization known to be active in 45 countries. It has particularly active branches in Indonesia and Uzbekistan, and has made inroads into the Pakistani community in the United Kingdom.

Its branches do not maintain an armed, insurgent wing. But the movement also does not stand in elections. Rather, Hizb ut-Tahrir seeks to agitate and educate, gaining supporters for the idea of restoring the caliphate. The intention is to leave violent action - such as the destruction of Israel, which the party supports - to the conventional armed forces of the restored caliphate.

 This is a video of a demonstration held by the women's chapter of Hizb ut-Tahrir Palestine in Rajab 1429 Hijri on the 87th anniversary of the destruction of the Caliphate. Despite the use of brutal force, the demonstrators remained steadfast in calling for the return of the Islamic Caliphate.

Hizb ut-Tahrir, in Bangladesh organized a seminar today at the National Press Club on the subject  Khilafah "Caliphate": The Only Way Forward for the Muslim Ummah. About 1000 people from all walks of life attended the seminar which was organized as part of the global campaign by Hizb ut-Tahrir on the occasion of the destruction of the Khilafah "Caliphate" on 28th Rajab 1342 AH (3rd March 1924).

Chief Coordinator and Spokesman of the party Mohiuddin Ahmed and senior member Ahmed Jamal Iqbal delivered the speeches at the seminar. The seminar was chaired by Deputy Spokesman Kazi Morshedul Haque and members of the party - Mowlana Mamunur Rashid, Mustafa Minhaz, Mawlana Raqib, Mamunur Rashid Ansari ... - were present on the panel.

The first speech was delivered by Ahmed Jamal Iqbal. In his speech titled "Glorious History of the Muslim Ummah Under the Khilafah "Caliphate"," he said after the establishment of the Khilafah "Caliphate" state in Medina, the Arabs who were living in darkness established a society based on justice. The Khilafah "Caliphate" did not just enlighten the Arabs; rather it's light spread to different corners around the world by defeating the Roman and Persian Empire in a short span of time. Muslims viewed Khilafah "Caliphate" as an obligation while the non-muslims citizens viewed it as a rule of justice and liberation from man's slavery. Throughout the history, Khilafah "Caliphate" provided mankind with an economic policy based on justice, citizen's right irrespective of race or religion, accountability of the ruler, strong foreign policy etc. Mankind progressed under its leadership and found peace, security and true prosperity under its shade. It is an undisputed historical fact that for more than 1300 years the Khilafah "Caliphate" state led the world politically, militarily economically, spiritually and intellectually.

Enemies of Islam conspired against the Khilafah "Caliphate" and finally destroyed it with the assistance of Mustafa Kamal (Allah's curse be upon him) in 1924. After the destruction of Khilafah "Caliphate", the Muslims all over the world are being oppressed by the disbelieving nations. The sufferings and afflictions of Muslims are increasing every day. Only re-establishment of Khilafah "Caliphate" can liberate the Muslims from the current sufferings and oppression.

In the second speech titled "Current Crisis of the Muslim Ummah: Khilafah "Caliphate" is the Only Way Forward," Mohiuddin Ahmed said that after embracing the aqeed'ah of Islam, working for establishing the Khilafah "Caliphate" so as to resume the rule by what Allah (SWT) has revealed is one of the most important obligations upon the neck of a Muslim. It is because of the absence of the Khilafah "Caliphate" state that the Western imperialist nations have been able to divide the Muslim Ummah into pieces and impose puppet rulers like Musharraf, Karimov, Bashar, Mubarak, Karzai, Abbas and Fakhruddin upon the Ummah. The Muslims today are divided and weak to the point that when America and her allies are launching their aggression upon one Muslim country after another in the name of ‘the war against terror', there does not exist one single ruler in the Muslim world to bravely stand up for Islam and the Muslims.

At the same time the capitalist ideology with its slogans of freedom and democracy is implemented upon the Muslims today which has failed to bring any good for the Ummah. With the return of the Khilafah "Caliphate", America and the capitalist West will be defeated. Their failure to face the resistance of the Muslims in Iraq and Afganistan clearly points to this fact. The puppet rulers they have imposed over the Ummah will not be able to suppress the movement for establishment of Khilafah "Caliphate". According to the promise of Allah (SWT) and His Messenger (SAW), the Khilafah "Caliphate" will be reestablished soon.

After the speeches were delivered there was a question and answer session for about 45 minutes. The members of Hizb ut-Tahrir on the panel answered people's questions regarding the method to establish the Khilafah "Caliphate" state, how the Khilafah "Caliphate" will unify the Ummah and become the leading state, what will be the state's policies on energy crisis, price hike etc and how it will deal with the imperialist attempt to attack and destroy it. They called upon the Ummah to engage in the work for reestablishing the Khilafah "Caliphate" with utmost effort and speed so as to abolish the rule by kufr and resume the rule by what Allah (SWT) has revealed.
