Hypocrisy of British policy - supporting protestors in Libya, training Saudi troops to crush protestors

London, UK, May 29th 2011 - It was revealed today that Britain is training Saudi Arabia's national guard - the elite security force that was used to crush the anti-regime protests in Bahrain earlier this year resulting in the murder of unarmed protestors and the arrest and torture of political opponents.

Food prices to double by 2030, Oxfam warns
The average price of staple foods will more than double in the next 20 years, leading to an unprecedented reversal in human development, Oxfam has warned. The world's poorest people, who spend up to 80% of their income of food, will be hit hardest according to the charity. It said the world is entering an era of permanent food crisis, which is likely to be accompanied by political unrest and will require radical reform of the international food system.Research to be published on Wednesday forecasts international prices of staples such as maize could rise by as much as 180% by 2030, with half of that rise due to the impacts of climate change. After decades of steady decline in the number of hungry people around the world, the numbers are rapidly increasing as demand outpaces food production. The average growth rate in agricultural yields has almost halved since 1990 and is set to decline to a fraction of 1% in the next decade.A devastating combination of factors - climate change, depleting natural resources, a global scramble for land and water, the rush to turn food into biofuels, a growing global population, and changing diets - have created the conditions for an increase in deep poverty."We are sleepwalking towards an age of avoidable crisis," Oxfam's chief executive, Barbara Stocking, said. "One in seven people on the planet go hungry every day despite the fact that the world is capable of feeding everyone. The food system must be overhauled." The Oxfam report followed warnings from the UN last week that food prices are likely to hit new highs in the next few weeks, triggering unrest in developing countries. The average global price of cereals jumped by 71% to a new record in the year to April last month.

Gaddafi to be told to stand down or face Apache attack
According to the UK's Guardian newspaper if South African president Jacob Zuma's peace mission fails, Nato will deliver its heaviest blow to Libyan leader's forces. Nato has only one question as it prepares to unleash Apache helicopters against the forces of Muammar Gaddafi this week, and Captain Ali Mohammed, one of the defenders of the besieged rebel city of Misrata, can supply the answer.British Apaches, together with French Tiger attack helicopters, will launch surgical strikes on Gaddafi's forces besieging Misrata. They have the ability to destroy individual gun positions in the town of Zlitan, west of Misrata, with less risk to the civilian population kept there as human shields. But there is a problem. This kind of war takes time, and time is the commodity Nato does not have as critics complain it has extended the original United Nations no-fly zone mandate into what is regime change in all but name. The big question is whether the defenders will crumble under the onslaught, or fight with the same tenacity shown by their rebel enemy in Misrata. "If you use Apaches, it is sure they will run away," said Mohammed. "There is a big difference between Gaddafi's men and ourselves. I am defending my home, my family, my city. But Gaddafi's forces do not believe in what they are doing."Given enough time, the Apaches can take out gun positions one by one, but time is not on Nato's side. Many members, notably Germany and Turkey, were reluctant partners from the start and at the United Nations China and Russia have complained that the western alliance did not consult over the extension of a mandate designed to protect civilians into what is a full-scale war. Nato needs victory quickly by breaking the will of Gaddafi's troops.

British Think-Tank: Saudi, US Blunders Increasing Iran's Might, Clout
A well-known British think-tank said the US mistakes in its wars on Iraq and Afghanistan as well as the harsh military approach adopted by the Saudi and Bahraini dictators against peaceful protesters have increased Iran's might and power in the region. The June 2011 analysis written by Shashank Joshi for Chatemhouse noted the ongoing revolutions in the region, and said the current trend of affairs and developments will only serve Iran's interests. It added that the US war on Afghanistan and Iraq as well as the recent Saudi invasion of Bahrain have all failed to materialize the western politicians' premeditated plans and demands. The era of the Persian Gulf's most iconic bête noire, Saudi born and raised Osama bin Laden, has drawn to a close. But outsiders persistently underestimate the degree to which it is a state - the Islamic republic of Iran - rather than a non-state group, al Qaeda, which today captures the strategic attention of those in the corridors of power in Riyadh, Manama, and Amman, the analysis said. Dangling a few hundred kilometers above the Gulf states, like a geopolitical Sword of Damocles, post-revolution Iran has long been the principal strategic concern for the tyrannical sheikdoms and emirates on the other side of the water, it said. And yet, the strenuous efforts to place Iran at the heart of pro-democracy uprisings reveal a more cynical and self-serving effort at threat inflation, distracting attention from the unavoidable reform agenda dodged for so long by the Persian Gulf Arab autocracies, the analysis continued.

US put pressure on Saudi Arabia to let women drive, leaked cables reveal
The Obama administration has been quietly putting pressure on Saudi Arabia to allow women to drive, according to leaked US embassy cables. But the jailing of a woman protester, Manal al-Sharif, after she posted online a video of herself at the wheel of a car in Khobar reveals the extent of the US diplomatic failure. The cables, part of the treasure trove allegedly given to WikiLeaks by the US soldier Bradley Manning, reveal previously unreported clashes over women's rights.Dispatches from Riyadh describe Saudi Arabia as "the world's largest women's prison". Those words are a quote from Wajeha al-Huwaider, a female campaigner with whom US diplomats have been in contact. She posted a video on YouTube in 2008 of herself driving. Claiming millions of Saudi women were prisoners in their homes, she challenged male control over work and travel. The billionaire tycoon Prince Waleed, a Saudi royal, assured a visiting Democratic congressman in July 2009 that King Abdullah did support women's rights, the embassy noted optimistically. The driving ban was reportedly about to be overturned.Speaking at his 99-storey Kingdom Tower in Riyadh, Waleed said the ban was merely a "demeaning" tribal custom and that he "relished relating his run-ins with the kingdom's religious conservatives. He was involved with the first public showings of films in the kingdom in many years. His wife has openly requested that women be allowed to drive. He supports French president Sarkozy's campaign against women wearing coverings hiding their faces."

Pakistani military 'bows to US pressure' on Taliban
Pakistan's military will launch an offensive in the militant bastion of North Waziristan, a newspaper reported yesterday, days after the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, said Islamabad must tackle sanctuaries for al-Qa'ida and the Taliban on the Afghan border. An understanding for an offensive in North Waziristan, the main sanctuary in Pakistan for militants fighting in Afghanistan, was reached when Ms Clinton and the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, visited Pakistan last week, Pakistan's The News reported.

The betrayal of the Pakistani rulers must be opposed

  • Published in Politics

On May 27th 2011, America's warmongering secretary of state Clinton warned Pakistan in unequivocal terms that Pakistan had to harden its offensive against militants that threaten US troops in neighbouring Afghanistan "in the days ahead". Earlier, the US emissary of war senator Kerry delivered the following remarks. He said, "The road ahead will not be defined by words. It will be defined by actions." To underscore America's nefarious intentions, both Kerry's arrival and departure were accompanied by vicious drone strikes. America's crusading President went further than his subordinates and stated unambiguously that he would categorically undermine Pakistan's sovereignty and order future raids in the country. Such is the venom and enmity of America towards Pakistan that it beggars belief how Pakistan's military and civil leadership continue to bow before America and her crusade to destroy Islam.

This should not come as any surprise, as the events over the past few weeks have revealed a new level complicity between America and the Pakistani leadership-especially the military leadership- not witnessed before. The litany of treachery is not limited to America's raid in Abbotabad, which was not only in the full knowledge of the army brass but the army provided ground assistance hours before the attack, as mentioned by the residents of Abbotabad.

Musharaf the grand architect of the betrayal gave the American's secret permission to punitive conduct raids inside Pakistan way back in 2001. Kayani, Musharraf's protégé has faithfully honored this pact to the letter, and will continue to serve his American masters in the future. Kayani's treachery has become even more apparent, after it was unveiled through several reports that he secretly supported more drone strikes.  The betrayal of civilian leadership is of similar magnitude and needs no elaboration-even a blind person can see the depth of their treachery.

O Muslims of Pakistan!

So the reason that both the civil and military leaders do not openly profess their loyalty to America is that they are afraid of you and your power. Their hypocrisy and enmity towards you has reached new heights. They see no shame in siding with the American crusader and extending all forms of assistance to the American war machine. Whenever, their deceit becomes public they rush to criticize America with velvet gloves, whilst in private they support her in every whim and take turns to make a mockery of your sons and daughters who have been slaughtered by American drones and operatives. Their behavior is described by Allah (SWT) in the following words:

"And when they meet those who believe, they say: "We believe," but when they are alone with their shayatin, they say: "Truly, we are with you; verily, we were only mockers. Allah mocks at them and gives them increase in their wrong-doings to wander blindly. These are they who have purchased error for guidance, so their commerce was profitless. And they were not guided."

O Muslims of Pakistan!

It is your duty to fully oppose the Pakistani leadership's acceptance of a removal of a handful of US troops from Pakistan soil. Rather you should intensify your efforts and press the Pakistani military which is the real ruler of Pakistan to undertake the following actions:

1- Completely sever diplomatic ties with the governments of America and Britain. Seal their embassies and expel their diplomatic and non-diplomatic staff. If backwater states like Bolivia and Venezuela can drive out US ambassadors for interference in their domestic affairs, then it should be much easier for a nuclear power like Pakistan to do likewise.

2- Withdraw all types of military assistance to the American crusaders. Deny them access to Pakistani military bases, airspace and waterways. Additionally, banish US military and intelligence personnel from Pakistani soil and cease intelligence cooperation with them. Cut all supply lines to NATO and the American war machine. Where appropriate seize their military assets and defend Pakistan's frontiers with your airplanes, tanks and missiles.

3- Leave the door open for the sincere Muslims of FATA and Baluchistan to swell your ranks, as you move to remove the imperialist border that divides the Muslims and thereby unify Afghanistan and Pakistan into a single entity. This will suffocate the crusader armies and make it extremely difficult for them to pursue their war against Islam.

4- Deploy nuclear weapons all over Pakistan and warn the crusaders and their allies of a stern response should they persist in their violation of Pakistan's territorial integrity. This maneuver will not weaken Pakistan. On the contrary it will bolster the country's ability to effectively counter regional and international threats. If a small nuclear country like North Korea's can spurn US advances, then Pakistan, a far stronger nuclear power with the seventh largest army in the world, is in a far better position to accomplish much more.

5- Extend all forms of cooperation to the Kashmiri Muslims. This will keep the Hindu forces pre-occupied and erode India's involvement in Afghanistan. Remember, the superiority of the Pakistani army in Kargil was attained with the assistance of your Kashmiri brothers. The memory of which still haunts the cowardly Hindus.

Last but not least, you must redouble your efforts together with the people of power to re-establish the  Khilafah "Caliphate". Only the Khilafah "Caliphate" state can vanquish the crusader forces from our lands.

O you who believe! answer (the call of) Allah and His Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life; and know that Allah intervenes between man and his heart, and that to Him you shall be gathered.[TMQ:8:22]

It is obligatory for the Muslims to adopt Islam as the sole ideology for their society, state and constitution

Members of Hizb ut-Tahrir delivered public speeches after Jummah prayers today outside various mosques in Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet where they said Islam is the only correct ideology for society. The current Awami-BNP rulers have rejected Islam as the basis in ruling and have instead adopted the so-called ideologies of the founding fathers of their parties, what they term ‘Mujibism' and ‘Ziaism'. They do this in clear violation of Allah's statement:

( وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ اتَّبِعُوا مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ قَالُوا بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا أَلْفَيْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَنَا أَوَلَوْ كَانَ آبَاؤُهُمْ لاَ يَعْقِلُونَ شَيْئًا وَلاَ يَهْتَدُونَ )

"When it is said to them: "Follow what Allah has revealed:" They say: "Nay! We shall follow the ways of our fathers." Would they do that! Even though their fathers were void of thinking and guidance?" [TMQ Al-Baqarah: 170]

On the one hand, the adherence of these rulers to ignorance and falsehood has made them to neglect looking after the affairs of the people; and poverty, unemployment, price hike etc have become permanent problems in the country, where young men are led to committing suicide to escape the curse of unemployment! On the other hand corruption and treachery have become deep rooted in these rulers such that they have sold their souls to the imperialists. They become enthusiastic when they receive even a slight attention from their masters. Just look at how the BNP chairperson, Khaleda Zia, is jubilant about her meetings with officials in the UK and USA, where she is promising to serve them even better than Sheikh Hasina, if she is brought back to power! We need not mention the crimes and treachery of Hasina, the killer of army officers.

The speakers reminded the musallis that it is obligatory for the Muslims to adopt Islam as the sole ideology for their society, state and constitution. The state, its constitution and all laws in society must be based upon the Qur'an and Sunnah. The Khilafah "Caliphate" ruling system is an integral part of Islam, which the Muslims must re-establish. The Muslims are given no option in this matter such that they can chose to either accept or reject; rather it is a duty demanded by the Muslims' iman.

"The only saying of the believers, when they are called to Allah and His Messenger to rule between them, is that they say: "We hear and we obey," and such are the successful." [TMQ An-Nur: 51]

Attack on Mehran Naval base is another attack on Pakistan's sovereignty by America Such condemnable attacks will persist as long as American forces remain at sensitive military places

A surprise attack by more then a dozen terrorists on a most sensitive area, the Mehran naval airbase, which is located at Karachi's most secure Shara-i-Faisal Street is as unbelievable as the 2nd May incident, when America intruded a hundred and fifty kilometers inside Pakistani territory to conduct a unilateral covert operation in Abbotabad, within a stones throw of the Kakul Military Academy.

Obama: U.S., U.K. leadership is essential
In a historic speech to the two houses of Parliament, President Barack Obama said Wednesday that U.S. and U.K. leadership in the world is essential for the promotion of freedom and human dignity. "Our relationship is special because of the values and beliefs that have united our people through the ages," Obama said in the first-ever address by a U.S. president to both houses of Parliament in Westminster Hall.  "The time for our leadership is now," he said. "We are the nations most willing to stand up for the values of tolerance and self-determination that lead to peace and dignity." Obama also hailed the economic leadership of the U.S. and the U.K. and their support for free enterprise. He said that emerging economies such as China and India are moving toward market-based principles. "We live in a global economy that is largely of our own making," he said.

China urges "democratic consultation" over IMF head
China said on Thursday that any decision on who should lead the International Monetary Fund "should be made through democratic consultation," refraining from taking a firm public position on French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde's candidacy. The faxed statement from the Ministry, in response to a question about China's position on who should head the IMF, repeated Beijing's position that senior management of the organization "should enhance representation of the emerging market countries and reflect changes in the world economy."But the statement did not say directly whether China endorses or opposes Lagarde, or possibly the other declared candidate, Mexican Central Bank Governor Agustin Carstens. They are competing to succeed Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who faces charges of sexual assault and resigned from the position."There is a consensus among the leaders in the G20 group that the selection of the management of international financial institutions, including the International Monetary Fund, should abide by the principles of openness, transparency and being merit-based," said the statement, echoing the Foreign Ministry's earlier comments on the issue."China has noted that countries concerned have proposed candidates for the executive directorship of the IMF. We hope that the decision will be made through democratic consultation on the basis of these above principles."

UK considers using attack helicopters in Libya
Defence Minister Nick Harvey rejects French claims that Britain is about to send Apache attack helicopters into Libya - but confirms it is an option being considered by the UK. Military chiefs are considering deploying Apache attack helicopters in Libya but no final decision has been made, the Government has insisted. Defence Minister Nick Harvey contradicted claims by French defence minister Gerard Longuet that Britain would follow the French in sending helicopters into the fight against Colonel Gaddafi, after Labour MPs complained Parliament was being "kept in the dark" about the deployment of UK forces. Mr Harvey told the House of Commons: "My understanding is that the French have indeed taken a decision to deploy their attack helicopters in Libya. I state again for the avoidance of all doubt: no such decision has been taken by the United Kingdom.  "It is an option we are considering and there is absolutely no sense in which it is true to say that we have kept Parliament in the dark about a decision."

Saudi troops sent to crush Bahrain protests 'had British training'
Saudi Arabian troops sent into Bahrain to crush a popular uprising may have had British military training, the Government has admitted. The British Government has said it is "deeply concerned" by reports of human rights abuses in Bahrain, where the ruling royal family has used Saudi troops to put down Shi'ite demonstrations. The Sunni royal family in Saudi Arabia fears the growing influence of Shi'ite Iran in the Middle East, and is helping Bahrain's Sunni rulers retain power. The Ministry of Defence has now admitted that members of the Saudi Arabian National Guard sent into Bahrain may have received military training from the British Armed Forces in Saudi Arabia.  The revelation is likely to renew allegations that the Coalition is sending mixed messages on democracy in the Middle East. Despite British criticism of the Bahrainis' actions, David Cameron last week welcomed the Crown Prince of Bahrain to Downing Street, drawing criticism from human rights groups. Britain keeps a large and secretive military training team in Saudi Arabia. British In a written parliamentary answer, Nick Harvey, the Armed Forces Minister, said the Government could not rule out the possibility that British-trained Saudis took part in the Bahraini operation.

UK ambassador airlifted as Yemen leader refuses to quit
Britain's ambassador to Yemen had to be airlifted to safety from the United Arab Emirates embassy in Sanaa yesterday along with his international colleagues as an armed mob closed in, and president Ali Abdullah Saleh again refused to cede power. The militiamen, armed with knives and swords, blocked the entrances to the UAE mission, where Jonathan Wilks, along with the US representative and three Arab ambassadors, had gathered, expecting Mr Saleh to arrive to sign the agreement. Yemeni military helicopters landed at the embassy and ferried the diplomats out, taking them to the presidential palace. There, they witnessed several Yemeni ruling party officials sign the accord. But Mr Saleh, shown on state TV standing alongside the US ambassador, did not sign. Mr Saleh said later he would not do so unless opposition leaders attend and sign it as well in public, not "behind closed doors". "If they don't comply, they are dragging us to a civil war, and they will have to hold responsibility for the bloodshed in the past and the blood which will be spilled later on because of their stupidity," Mr Saleh warned in an address on state TV.

US to withdraw troops from Pakistan
The US military has announced the withdrawal of a number of its troops from Pakistan. The Pentagon said it had received a request from the Pakistani government to reduce its presence in the country. The request came after a raid by US special forces killed al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden in early May. The US has more than 200 troops in Pakistan helping to train the army. But there are said to be intelligence and special forces operating there.A spokesman at the Pentagon said that within the last two weeks Pakistan had asked the American military to reduce its footprint, and the Americans were doing so, pulling out some troops. The numbers are quite small. It is not clear if any of the American intelligence and special operations forces that are said to be in Pakistan clandestinely are also being pulled out.
