To Defend the Right of Muslim Women to wear the "Niqab" is a Duty
(Translated)

The majority of the House of Representatives in the Netherlands approved a law prohibiting the face covering (Veil) in some public places, and to impose a financial penalty on those who do this ... Although the law was formulated in general terms, however, it intended without a doubt to ban the "Veil" or "Al-Burqa’" or the so-called "Burka". It is the Muslim community that is targeted.

deological states do not relish promulgating laws and legislation that is inconsistent with the legislative rules and principles it adopted and it is established on, some have realized that in this country and advised not to ban the "Veil"; because it conflicted with the so-called values of freedom in the democratic system. Of these are the State Council, the highest legislative advisory authority, stated that the House of Representatives is looking at an issue that does not represent a societal problem, and that by this decision it is deliberately targeting the Muslim community and it does not possess enough justification for the ban, and that the right to wear the "Niqab" is part of the freedom of belief as what was explained by the State Council.

The opposition by the State Council for the decision to ban the "Veil" with a statement on its incompatibility of the legislative rules and principles, and its opposition to the values on which the country's constitution is built on, reveals once again the lack of principled restraint among politicians, and that they act according to special partisan self-interest policies dictated by their lusts, desires, and malice, and has nothing to do with values that they claim to defend. What is strange is that their hypocrisy goes as far as accusing Muslims of violating their values, when they are the first to oppose and contradict them.

It is absurd to rely on politicians to deliver justice to Muslims. It is a duty that Muslims unite to defend their issues, such as the issue of banning the "Veil" that affect a group of Muslim women in this country, defending the wearing of "Niqab" is a victory for Muslim women who adopt the rule that it is a Shariah duty (obligation) based on Shariah Ijtihad of some scholars based on evidence they adopt ... and at the same time, it is defending the right of the Muslim community to adhere to the rules of Islam without interference from the state.

This will teach Muslims that cowardice and betrayal to the veiled Muslim women will reflect on them evil and corruption, compromises will only be followed by compromises. And banning the veil would be followed by another ban; it is a first step towards banning other Islamic manifestations like the Khimar (headscarf) and the Jilbab (long outer garment) and others.

We in Hizb ut Tahrir call on the Muslim community - individuals and groups - to carry out their Shariah duty and defend the Islamic causes:

«الْمُؤْمِنُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ كَالْبُنْيَانِ يَشُدُّ بَعْضُهُ بَعْضًا»

“Verily, the believers are like a structure, each one strengthening the other.”

And we call on them to work with us and to cooperate for the victory of the veiled Muslim women and defend their right to abide by the Shariah rule that they adopt, in application of the saying of Allah (swt):

(وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ)

“The believing men and believing women are allies of one another” [At-Tawba: 71].
