An Insight on the Protest of Kabul University

On 16th Sept, 2012, an ideologically motivated protest was organized by the teachers and students of the Kabul University in response to the insult of our beloved Prophet (saw). The protesters burned US and Israeli flags as well as pictures of the US president. Moreover, the protesters chanted different slogans such as; "Democracy is Kufri system, implanting it and acting upon it is Haram (forbidden)", "we will soon respond to these criminals", "Muslims need unification of the Ummah", "One Allah, one Aqeedah, one flag, one army, one state, one system, one ruler, one land, is the obligation of the Ummah", "victory is near by the will of Allah" and other such slogans. They also chanted against the so called democratic freedoms and values, they praised Libyan Mujahedeen for killing US ambassador and three others in response to the insult to the prophet (saw).

In response to the protest, some colonialist organizations have shown different un-Islamic reactions. For instance the Human Rights Commission in one of its press release asked the people of Afghanistan not to play in the hands of extremists. The spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior Sidiq Sidique said, while giving interview to "8 Subh" Newspaper, about the white & Black flags of Islam that "if one or two persons have raised the flags of the opponents in this protests, they had no right to do so because it's against the constitution, Democracy and freedom of Afghanistan". Similarly, few University professors, analysts, members of the civil society and media have reacted against the protest and have presented their Western backed agenda. They have initiated their fallacious propaganda and have linked this act of university teachers and students with Taliban, Al-Qaida and ISI.

Hizb-ut Tahrir / Wilayah Afghanistan strongly supports the stand of the Ummah concerning the insult to our Prophet (saw). Those who try to associate such slogans and flags with extremism are in fact ignorant of the Sunnah of the Prophet (saw), because white and black flags are the flags of Muhammad (saw). White (La'wa) on which Kalema is written in black color, while Black is Raya on which Kalema is written in white color. These are the only flags of Islamic Ummah and every Muslim has the right to raise these flags. Those flags which were given to us after the disintegration of the Islamic land and getting the so called freedom from British rule are not our flags. Similarly the word Khilafah "Caliphate", Imarah and Imamat are all used in the same Shari'ah context and are used for the ruler, who was responsible to implement Islam comprehensively upon the people, after Muhammad (saw). But in details these terms could be used in other areas as well.
