Press Release
"Al-Wala wa-l-Bara" is a Definitive Islamic Ruling and a Firm Religious Principle, and Must Not be Sacrificed for National Interests
(Translated)
Adam Boehler, Trump’s Zionist representative on prisoner affairs, and Zalmay Khalilzad, former U.S. envoy for peace in Afghanistan, met with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the foreign minister of the ruling regime in Kabul. Following this meeting, the regime released an American prisoner as a gesture of goodwill. Amir Khan Muttaqi called for “positive political and economic relations with the United States.” Boehler described this move as a step toward “building trust,” and Khalilzad stated that “the release of George Glezmann is a sign of the Taliban’s goodwill.”
The Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir in Wilayah Afghanistan considers the Afghan regime’s engagement with the United States - which is currently in direct war with the Islamic Ummah - as contrary to the Islamic ruling of Al-Wala’ wa-l-Bara’, and strongly condemns it. In this regard, the following points are brought to the attention of Muslims:
1. For decades, the United States has been in continuous direct warfare against the Islamic Ummah. Since the onset of the Jewish state’s brutal attacks on Gaza, the U.S. has provided full military, economic, and political support to that state. At present, it has authorized the Jewish state to open the gates of hell on the Muslims of Gaza to expel them, and under the pretext of ensuring its security, regularly targets Syria and Lebanon as well. Moreover, the United States itself has launched heavy airstrikes on the Islamic land of Yemen, resulting in the martyrdom of a large number of Muslims. Therefore, it is not permissible for any Muslim—whether an individual or a state—to engage in such relations with governments that are actively waging war against Islam.
2. The Afghan regime, which claims to be the only Islamic state in the Muslim world and was established based on the sacred sacrifices of Mujahideen from Afghanistan and beyond, is violating the principle of “loyalty to believers and disavowal of disbelievers” (Al-Wala wal-Bara) in its dealings with foreign governments. This principle is a definitive and binding Islamic ruling. Such a policy is, in fact, a deviation from the firm Islamic principle that “the war and peace of Muslims is one,” and represents the substitution of Al-Wala’ wa-l-Bara’ with national interests—giving priority to doubtful matters over the core, established tenets of Islam.
3. What is most regrettable is that an American citizen is released on the basis of “goodwill,” while dozens of sincere Muslim callers—imprisoned for advocating the Caliphate upon the Prophetic method and striving for the unity of the Ummah—remain under harsh conditions, serving long sentences. This double standard is not only in contradiction with Islamic rulings, but it is also a clear violation of the command of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and the established Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), who taught that believers should be firm against disbelievers and compassionate among themselves.
The past century has repeatedly proven that foreign policy based on national interests has inflicted the gravest harm on the Islamic Ummah, pushing Muslims into confusion and political deadlock. Therefore, any government that claims to represent Islam must base its foreign policy on Da’wah and Jihad, and this is not an ijtihadi matter, aiming to proclaim the religion and establish the dominance of Islam over all other religions and systems. This goal can only be achieved when Muslims abandon nationalist ideologies and pragmatic (interest-based) policies, and strive toward the establishment of the second Caliphate (Khilafah Rashidah) upon the Prophetic method—a matter that is the decisive issue of the Ummah.
“O you who believe! Do not take the disbelievers as allies instead of the believers. Do you wish to offer Allah a clear proof against yourselves?” [An-Nisa: 144]
