Press Release The Hasina government abducts Professor Dr Syed Golam Mawla flouting the rule of law which she claims to uphold

The Hasina government abducted senior member of Hizb ut-Tahrir, Professor Dr Syed Golam Mawla from Kashimpur jail gate on the evening of 19 September (2012), after his release from the jail. Dr Golam Mawla has not been presented before a court till now. Earlier that day (19-09-2012) the Supreme Court had dismissed the government's petition to stay his bail granted by the High Court. The Supreme Court refused the government's claim that the activities of Hizb ut-Tahrir fall under the so-called Anti-Terror law. The verdict of the Supreme Court did not please the government and so it decided to disobey it. This is the very court whose verdict the government is eager to implement when it suits them such as the verdict on caretaker government. Furthermore Sheikh Hasina punished her father's killers in a vengeful manner claiming that it was a great example of upholding the rule of law by herself and her government, yet this is the same rule of law which she is flouting now. This only demonstrates the hypocrisy and double standards of the ruling regime and the democratic system.

Hizb ut-Tahrir strongly condemns the Hasina government's actions and we assure her that with Allah's Will and Help, we will continue our struggle in the way of Allah (SWT), gain the Nusrah, establish the Khilafah "Caliphate" and take appropriate measures against herself, her henchmen and everyone responsible for the injustice done to the sincere Daw'ah carriers.
