The Capitalist Trade Liberalization WTO Agreement Promises Only Further Economic Misery for the Women of the Muslim World

The 9th World Trade Organisation (WTO) Conference that took place in Bali, Indonesia from 3rd to 6th December reached a draft global trade agreement that includes further trade liberalization policies including the lifting of more trade regulations and agriculture reforms. The agreement is legally binding for the 159 member states of the organisation, which includes many Muslim countries. Some are arguing that this package will benefit developing states.

 The Misdemeanor Court of Sidi Gaber sentenced the adult female defendants to 11 years in actual prison in Case No. 25790 of 2013 and the placement of 7 juvenile females at a juvenile detention center until reaching the legal age, and sentenced six agitators in absentia to 15 years imprisonment. The prejudicial rules that have been issued against the girls were based on flimsy charges.

A Muslim Woman wearing the Khimar (Headscarf) in Turkey's Parliament is an Obligatory Duty and NOT a Favour from Anyone

On Thursday 31st October, four female lawmakers from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) attended Turkey's parliament wearing the Islamic headscarf which had been banned in all public institutions in this secular state for decades. One of these parliamentarians, Nurcan Dalbudak described the act as marking a "milestone for freedom" and stated that 60-70% of women in Turkey wore the headscarf.
