Press Release
Over a Thousand Women and Children Attended a Women's March in London Organised by Hizb ut Tahrir to Condemn the Slaughter of Women and Children in Syria

On Sunday 22nd September, over 1200 women and children attended a momentous women's march in London organized by Hizb ut Tahrir to condemn the slaughter of women and children in Syria by the tyrant Bashar Al Assad, as well as to support the struggle of their Syrian sisters to oust the murderous secular Ba'athist regime to establish the Islamic Khilafah "Caliphate". Protestors, young and old, and from varied nationalities travelled from towns and cities across the UK to attend the march which proceeded through one of the main roads in London, ending at the Syrian Embassy where there were a number of talks from the women of Hizb ut Tahrir. The solemn event was led by a procession of children carrying a small coffin and shrouded dolls to symbolize the countless children and babies killed by the Assad regime. The depth of pain and anger amongst the demonstrators towards the horrendous plight of their Ummah in Syria was clearly visible as was their overwhelming support for the establishment of the Khilafah "Caliphate" in the region, reflected in the powerful and passionate chants from the protest. Chants included, "Sisters in Syria dying for Islam! We support their struggle for Bilad Ash Sham" and "Muslim leaders silent as children bleed! Only serving US needs!". Placards included slogans such as "UN Missions: Buying Assad time to kill Muslims!" and "Establish the Khilafah "Caliphate" to save the women and children of Syria!" Protestors also voiced strong opposition to any Western or foreign intervention in Syria that historically has only brought further bloodshed, oppression, instability, and Western installed dictators to the Muslim world. Instead, they raised a strong call to the Muslim armies to defend the blood of their Ummah and to give their Nusrah (material support) for the establishment of the Khilafah "Caliphate" with urgency. The march enjoyed great interest from bystanders, drivers, and those in their homes who rushed to capture this unique event on camera, with many expressing their support of the protest.

The first address was delivered by Ibtihal Bsis, deputy media representative of Hizb ut Tahrir Britain who highlighted that the struggle of the women in Syria was not simply to remove a tyrant but to replace his secular regime with the Islamic rule of the Khilafah "Caliphate". Dr. Nazreen Nawaz, member of the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir gave the second talk, addressing the great status of dignity and protection that was afforded to Muslim women under the Khilafah "Caliphate" which they lost upon its removal from the Muslim lands - the horrors they now face in Syria being one example of many of the consequences of the absence of this state. She therefore urged Muslim women to increase their efforts to achieve its re-establishment with urgency. She also discussed the active work of Hizb ut Tahrir in Syria to carry the dawah for the Khilafah "Caliphate", highlighting the support that the party now enjoys amongst many within the society including a number of the brigades, and calling Muslim women to join the work of the Hizb. Dr. Nazreen's talk was followed by an Arabic summary of the main messages of the day. The final address was delivered by Umm Abdullah Khan, women's media representative of Hizb ut Tahrir Britain who discussed the great Islamic duty that Muslim women in the West have to support the struggle of their sisters in Syria to establish the Khilafah "Caliphate", and the important impact that their voices can have in aiding the achievement of this goal.

The march was live-streamed to a global audience and accompanied by extensive social media coverage of the event with images and messages of the day broadcast internationally. The women of Hizb ut Tahrir across the Muslim world will continue to actively promote the event and its messages to those within their societies to Insha Allah hasten the establishment of the Khilafah "Caliphate".
