Press Release
The Government Continues to Use “Women’s Rights” to Disguise its Islamophobic Policies

On January 29, 2025, the government presented a “broad political agreement on tightening the Religious Communities Act and strengthening efforts against problematic marriage practices.”

Shortly before this, the “Commission for the Forgotten Women's Struggle,” composed of well-known Islamophobes, had presented its recommendations for combating the so-called “honor culture” allegedly originating from MENAPT countries (read: Muslim countries). The same commission has previously recommended a ban on the Islamic headscarf in primary schools.

Both the government’s political agreement and the commission’s recommendations aim at increasing state control and imposing stricter regulations targeting Muslim religious communities and mosques. The goal is to make it more difficult to establish Islamic communities in the country and to restrict Muslims’ rights.

The Religious Communities Act has already been tightened in the past, making it harder for Muslims to run mosques and organize communities. These draconian proposals and measures are disguised as a so-called “women’s rights struggle,” where sanctimonious Danish politicians supposedly seek to save poor Muslim women from Muslim “dark men.”

However, it would be extraordinarily naive to believe that a government that invites a ruthless dictator—responsible for the torture of thousands of innocent women in Egypt—to a gala dinner at Christiansborg has the slightest concern for the well-being of Muslim women. This is the same government that, for 470 days, has supported and supplied the Zionist occupation in its extermination of Gaza’s women and children.

The same Danish politicians, who remain conspicuously silent about the hundreds of women in Denmark being brutally exploited through sex trafficking, react loudly when an Islamophobic “conservative” newspaper suspiciously presents a single so-called “Islamic divorce contract,” sourced from an Islamophobic organization previously accused of document forgery and threats against police, researchers, and its own members.

The #MeToo scandals within Danish political parties, media houses, and other parts of society clearly demonstrate that there is a serious problem regarding respect for women—but this problem has not come from “MENAPT countries.” Danish men are the most misogynistic in the EU, according to a 2014 EU report revealing that 52 percent of all Danish women experience violence or sexual harassment. This is not due to any “honor culture” but rather a perverse Western view of women.

Western women suffer under an oppressive ideal that unfairly expects them to be career-driven, manage household duties, and simultaneously conform to absurd beauty standards imposed by the misogynistic fashion, beauty, and entertainment industries. Harassment statistics clearly show that women are not respected and protected in the West; instead, they are objectified, oppressed, and socially controlled.

The only solution to both the misogynistic Western worldview and certain traditional, un-Islamic cultures is the Islamic view of women. Only through Islam’s values and way of life can respect, dignity, and recognition of a woman’s nature be ensured in society. The thousands of Western women who embrace Islam every year testify that they find true liberation in Islam.
