The Government of the Regime in Jordan is Forsaking and Evading the Duty towards the Crime of the Greek Patriarch in Jerusalem

In continuation of the failure of the Jordanian regime towards Jerusalem and generally Palestine and evading from duty, it did not move a finger towards the grave and dangerous crime committed by the Patriarch of the Greek Orthodox Church, Cyrus Theophilos III, who sold 500 dunams of land of the Orthodox Church to the Jews. He was comfortable to commit the crime because of the 1958 Patriarchal law, which was approved by the Jordanian Parliament at the time.

After the members of the current Jordanian Parliament realized the shortcomings, injustice and gravity of that law, which the Patriarch relied upon to carry out his crime, and realizing -what the Ummah had long recognized- the seriousness represented by the ecclesiastical missions, many called on the government through a memorandum to take a bold stance towards the Greek Patriarch and his crime. The regime has evaded responding to the parliamentary memorandum and in taking a serious and effective stance towards this crime under a vague pretext that came from the Minister of State for Media Affairs, Muhammad Al-Mumini, that the government did not receive the memorandum and that as soon as it is received, it will deal with it, forgetting that in origin the duties of the regime towards the issues of the Ummah do not need memorandums from any one, and that the origin of its system is to mobilize the Ummah and alert the armies to liberate all of Palestine and restore Jerusalem and its churches and Al-Aqsa Mosque to the Muslims’ embrace. An official spokesman for the Jordanian government added:

“And we will put the facts as they are, as we receive them from our official agencies." What deception and disregard is this?! Did you not receive from your official agencies that the ecclesiastical mission of this church had previously appropriated the Jews of a thousand acres in Caesarea and the leaking of real estate in the courtyard of Omar ibn Al-Khattab in Jerusalem and the leaking of land between Bethlehem and Jerusalem, and the crimes of other ecclesiastical missions? You received it, but your complicity and forsaking, which refuses to depart your policies in addition to your criminal comprehension with Patriarch Theophilos, as revealed by the member of the Orthodox Council Aleef As-Sabbagh.

Finally, we say to the dignitaries of the House of Representatives: You yourselves have realized the seriousness of the laws issued by your Council, including the Law of the Patriarchate. What will you do with the laws that are presented to you and the danger it holds to all of the people in Jordan, including the amended Penal Code of 2017, which could potentially negatively affect you during your breaks? It is time for you to take the side of the people in Jordan and the Islamic Ummah and its issues, and the Ummah will always remember those who stand by it and defend it and its Deen and its issues.

[يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمْ وَاخْشَوْا يَوْمًا لَّا يَجْزِي وَالِدٌ عَن وَلَدِهِ وَلَا مَوْلُودٌ هُوَ جَازٍ عَن وَالِدِهِ شَيْئًا إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا وَلَا يَغُرَّنَّكُم بِاللَّهِ الْغَرُورُ]

“O mankind, fear your Lord and fear a Day when no father will avail his son, nor will a son avail his father at all. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth, so let not the worldly life delude you and be not deceived about Allah by the Deceiver” [Luqman: 33].
