LETTER OF CLARIFICATION The Editor The Nation, Lahore

Dear Sir,

Assalamu Alaikum,

I write with reference to an article published in your daily on 26th of May 2012, entitled "LHC upholds ban on HT" by Ashraf Javed. We wish to raise the following points for the benefit of your readers

1. We notice that the reporter is the same one who wrote an article packed with lies in your newspaper of 14th April, 2012 entitled ‘19 Hizb ut-Tahrir men booked under sedition law, jailed.' We also bring to your attention the circumstances in which this man, Mr Ashraf Javed, was employed and the brief with which he is entrusted, which is to malign the university as part of a campaign by Kayani's agencies. And regrettably, despite assurances from your papers officials that such maligning would never happen again after the last occurrence, it has.

2. The decision of the LHC court is regrettable considering that Hizb ut-Tahrir brought Islamic evidences in its writ to lift the ban upon it, which was replete with Islamic evidences about its Methodology. And the writ, with its annexure, is attached so we urge you to publish them for the good of your readers. This writ is in the name of Naveed Butt, the official spokesman for Hizb ut-Tahrir in Pakistan, who was abducted in front of his family and neighbors by Kayani's agencies on 11 May 2012 and whose whereabouts remain unknown until now.

3. As for Deputy Attorney General contending, "It preaches the establishment of Islamic Khilafah "Caliphate" through militancy including armed struggle. It was involved in anti-government propaganda and activities which are prejudicial to the integrity and security of Pakistan." We say, yes Hizb ut-Tahrir works for the Khilafah "Caliphate" but regards armed struggle to achieve it as Haraam in Shariah as is evident from the Methodology it pursues, accordingly to the Methodology that RasulAllah SAW pursued. Moreover this statement is to hide from the people's eyes the actual Methodology that RasulAllah SAW pursued and that 000 pursues today, which is to demand Nussrah (Material Support) from the people of power for the establishment of Islam in authority. And regrettably, the Deputy Attorney General views matters from the law that he inherited from the British Raj and does not consider the divine texts of Islam, including the Methodology of the prophet Mohammad SAW.

4. As for being anti-government, exposing General Kayani and his coterie of traitors within the political and military leadership is not anti-government, rather it is pro- the armed forces, the people and the state. In fact it is these traitors who are collaborating with the Western colonialist enemy day and night to advance their designs against Muslims and Islam, as is seen clearly in the issue of America;s invasion of Abbotabad, purging of sincere officers from the armed forces, NATO attack on Salala check-post and the re-opening of the NATO supply line. Moreover, such exposing and accounting is not only a right for the Muslim, it is a duty.

To redress the matter we request that you print an apology as well as publish this letter for the benefit of your readership.
