Condolences on the Occurrence of Road Accident in Kasserine
(Translated)

Wednesday 31/08/2016, a horrific traffic accident occurred this morning, in the region of Khmouda in Kasserine Governorate, resulted in the death of 16 people and 52 others suffered from various injuries – upon the time of writing this release.

The accident took place when a truck heavily loaded with cement collided initially with a bus of the regional transport company of Kasserine, after a failure in the truck’s brakes, causing it to skid and crash into the bus. The truck then collided into an electrical pole, causing it to fall onto a number of cars where 15 of them caught fire.

In the face of this tragic incident, we in the Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Tunisia:

- We ask Allah (swt) to grant His mercy to the people who perished in this horrible tragedy, as we ask Him to bestow their families and their relatives with patience and fortitude, and to bless the injured a speedy recovery.

- We as Muslims know with certainty that death is in the Hand of Allah (swt) alone, and we believe that the human life-term (Ajal) cannot be delayed or hastened, and that we all belong to Allah and that we will all return to Him. We as Muslims cannot but to partake in the consolation for our people who perished, and to share in the grief of their families.

- The issue of traffic accidents is a complicated one; intersecting technical (infrastructure and vehicles status), with human, legal (traffic law), and regulatory aspects, and cannot be reduced except under taking care of the affairs of the people fully in accordance to the provisions of Allah. And this can only be in the presence of a ruler like the Khaleefah Omar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: “By Allah, if a mule slipped in Shatt al-Furat, I would be held accountable before Allah why I did not pave the way for it”.

[إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وإِنَّآ إِلَيْهِ راجِعُونَ]

“Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.”[Al-Baqarah: 156]
