"Say STOP to the Judicial Persecutions against Hizb ut Tahrir" Press Conference of Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Turkey

Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Turkey held a press conference at the Akgun Hotel in Istanbul on Thursday, 18 September 2014, for its campaign from September 18-30, entitled: "Say STOP to the Judicial Persecutions against Hizb ut Tahrir". Various media and civil society organizations participated in the press conference.

The Head of the Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah of Turkey, Mahmut Kar, delivered a speech outlining briefly the history of the oppression suffered by the members of Hizb ut Tahrir under the Turkish judiciary, and he explained that their sentences are repressive illegal political judgments, reminding the Turkish government, the judiciary, the civil society organizations, the media and all the Muslims of their responsibilities towards this injustice.

Among the participants at the press conference, who answered our invitation and supported the campaign, were; Hassan Sabaz, columnist for the Dogru News and from the Association of the Vulnerable; Hassan Olger, lawyer; and Chairperson of "Imkander" (Possibility) Murad Ozer; Deputy General-Secretary of "Mazloumder" lawyer Qaya Qurtel; lawyer Najib Kibar; Chairperson of "Fateh Aqingeler" Association Mohammed Shaheen, Chairperson of the Intellectual Institute in Istanbul, Mustafa Shater Oglu, and the Chairperson of the "Mazloumder" branch in Istanbul, Junaid Sari Yishar, who gave their statements about the unjust trials that the members of Hizb ut Tahrir experience specifically, and those faced by the members of the other Islamic organizations generally by the Turkish judiciary.

We in the Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Turkey wish to inform the public that this campaign, which will continue during the period from September 18-30, is the prelude. In the framework of this campaign, we will be conducting visits to politicians, political institutions, civil society organizations, and the media, and these campaigns will be updated and will continue until this oppression is put to an end.
