5th of September, Al Jazeera reported that according to former Palestinian border officials and travelers, Egyptian officers are asking desperate Palestinians from Gaza for bribes of up to $10,000 to leave the besieged Strip through the Rafah Crossing. According to a former Palestinian official working for the Crossing Authority which oversees the Rafah terminal, nearly half a million dollars was taken by Egyptian officers from Palestinians

The banning of the full body swimsuit termed the “burkini” has dominated news headlines over the past two weeks. Around 30 towns have banned the burkini from their beaches, with some mayors linking the bans to the 14 July lorry attack in Nice that killed 86 and the murder of a Catholic priest near Rouen by Islamic State sympathisers.

In a scathing criticism of the Pakistani elite, the former director of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Pakistan Marc-André Franche, said the only way a critical change could happen in the country was when the influential, the politicians and the wealthy, would sacrifice short term, individual and family interests for the benefit of the nation.
