 The Certainty of Allah’s Promise

In these difficult and painful times, it is essential that we do not allow ourselves to fall into despair. The suffering we witness, particularly in Palestine, can feel overwhelming, but as Muslims we are taught that hardship is never without purpose and that oppression is never permanent. Rather than becoming defeated, we must hold firmly onto a clear vision and actively work towards it with patience, conviction, and sincerity. Our belief is not rooted in temporary circumstances, but in the certainty that justice belongs to Allah and that He alone determines the ultimate outcome of all affairs.

Allah (swt) says in the Qur’an:

“And We conveyed to the Children of Israel in the Scripture that, ‘You will surely cause فساد (corruption) on the earth twice, and you will surely reach a great height of arrogance. So when the promise came for the first of them, We sent against you servants of Ours of great military might, and they probed [even] into the homes, and it was a promise fulfilled. Then We gave back to you a return victory over them. And We reinforced you with wealth and sons and made you more numerous in manpower. [And said], "If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, [you do it] to yourselves." Then when the final promise came, [We sent your enemies] to sadden your faces and to enter the temple in Jerusalem, as they entered it the first time, and to destroy what they had taken over with [total] destruction.” [Surah Al-Isra 17:4–7].

This reminds us that tyranny rises, but it also falls. Historically, Muslims entered and ruled Jerusalem under the Khilafah (Caliphate) of Umar ibn al-Khattab (ra), establishing justice and protection for its people for centuries. This is not just history, but a reminder of what can return by the will of Allah.

The Prophet (saw) also gave glad tidings about the future of the Ummah. He said:

«أَلَا إِنَّ عُقْرَ دَارِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الشَّامُ» “The center of the believers will be in Ash-Sham.” (Reported in Musnad Ahmad) And in other narrations, it is mentioned that leadership will reach Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem), indicating its future significance for the Ummah.

These texts are not merely descriptions of distant events, but sources of strength and direction for us today. They remind us that the oppression we witness is not without end, and that the balance of power can and will shift. However, this change is not something that occurs without effort. As an Ummah, we are required to remain steadfast in our faith, to strengthen our Iman, and to actively strive for justice in the ways that are within our capacity.

This means refusing to normalize oppression, continuing to raise awareness, supporting those who are suffering, and maintaining a clear understanding of our values and goals. It also means resisting the sense of helplessness that can paralyze action.

Ultimately, our hope is not based on blind optimism, but on trust in the promise of Allah. Oppression rises, but it also falls. The current reality is not final. In shā’ Allāh, a time will come when justice is restored and Masjid al-Aqsa is free once again.

Until that time, our responsibility is clear: to remain patient but not passive, hopeful but not naive, and committed to working towards a future in which justice prevails.
