Women Can’t Even Feel Safe With Their Husbands Under This Hedonistic System!

In 2020, a French woman by the name of Gisèle Pelicot was at the local police station with her husband of 50 years who was accused of filming up the skirts of unsuspected women. While there, one of the police officers took her aside to show her an image of a woman laying without clothes on who she said looked dead with a man whom she did not recognize. In fact, she did not even recognize herself and could not believe it when the officer told her that there were hundreds of such videos and photographs of her lying motionless with various men raping her. She had started noticing a change in her health 9 years prior when she noticed that she was having memory loss and different unexplained gynecological problems. Dominique Pelicot, Gisèle’s now ex-husband, was part of an online chat group within a dating app that allowed him to find men who would rape his unconscious wife.

Secular capitalist societies, while recognizing these behaviors are disgusting and depraved, fail when it comes to identifying the problem and solution. The problem is often centered around placing the blame on a bad apple, or just some dark corner of human behavior and limited to just a small group of people. However, what these cases and a recent CNN investigation prove is that this is more than just a few dark minded, evil people. The investigation findings were released in March 2026 in a report titled, “Exposing a Global “Online Rape Academy: in shocking group chats, men encourage one another to drug and assault their wives – and swap tips on getting away with it “ by Saskya Vandoorne, Kara Fox, Niamh Kennedy, Eleanor Stubbs and Marco Chacon.

In this report, they uncovered chat groups on apps such as Telegram and websites where one such site had around 62 million visitors in the month of February alone with users mostly from America. On these sites, men trade advice on how to drug their wives or female partners that will leave no evidence behind. They also sell the drugs, as well as, photos, and videos that they film of themselves sexually assaulting their wives or partners. In some cases, such as the Pelicot case, the husbands will charge men money to come into their home to rape their wife whom they have drugged. The investigators were able to track people who lived across Europe, the UK, West Africa, and America who are a part of these chat rooms–sharing tips, photos, videos, and sometimes exchanging money. Then in June 2026, a 40-year-old woman was found beaten, bleeding heavily, and incredibly intoxicated in her bed in Austria by her daughter. Her husband was arrested for her death, as he admitted to beating her, though he claims it was a consensual game. It became known through text messages that he had been drugging her and charging men 500 Euros to rape her as she lay unconscious. One would think that governments across the world and INTERPOL would work together to stop this type of heinous crime from happening to women. However, it seems that these crimes are either never prosecuted, or the perpetrators get a slap on the wrist. Some of the men in the CNN report were caught and sentenced for only 8,11, and 20 years. Laws in a secular system are not there to protect the most vulnerable–in this case unsuspecting wives who believe they are safe and protected by their husbands. In fact the laws seem to do the opposite and protect the criminals.

According to the CNN investigation, “Motherless has avoided being targeted for the type of content posted on its site due to US safe harbor protections that largely shield platform owners from direct liability for their users’ uploads. This creates spaces where men like Pelicot can operate behind a veil of anonymity–their abuses too often invisible despite being plotted in plain sight.”

These kinds of sex crimes and the lack of criminalization for committing acts of sexual violence against women and children is not shocking in a secular capitalist system. From the “#MeToo” movement that exposed Hollywood elites like Harvey Weinstein and actors like Kevin Spacey who regularly abused those who worked around them in the industry to the explosive Epstein Files that exposed a women and children trafficking ring that touched some of the highest level officials–from politicians, monarchs, scientists, Ivy League professors, to bankers. What is obvious is that this is a trickle-down effect. The type of objectification, sexualization, and commodification of women can only come from a society in which it is normalized from those who wield power. So, it should not come as a shock that so many of these husbands view their wives in the same way. Instead of their wives being an honor that they should protect and take care of, they are viewed as mere objects to be used for their own gratification or a means of generating income. Muslims are not immune from being a part of committing these crimes. In fact, there were many Muslim men named in the Epstein files and there were several Muslim men who were identified and arrested for raping an unconscious Gisèle Pelicot. Similarly, the impact of another far reaching tentacle of secularism that encourages violence against women: Andrew Tate and other Red Pill influencers, which imparts a specific viewpoint of women as inherently materialistic, manipulative, and less intelligent. They push the belief that women are property that need to be dominated and physically beaten to keep them in line along with many other harmful attitudes that further cause dysfunction between men and women/husbands and wives. These beliefs are of course, not in alignment with Islamic values, but have a negative impact on the lives of Muslim men and women today.

If we take this sick and perverted society–of which there are many more examples of just how corrupt it is–and juxtapose it on a society that is governed by the laws of the Creator, then the differences are stark. Men in secular capitalist societies are shaped to view women as mere objects to be desired, used as a means of generating money, and a way to showcase a man’s dominance. Allah (swt) has made it clear how the relationship between a husband and wife should be and under an Islamic governance these concepts will be formed so that the behavior becomes the norm. Allah (swt) says:

“And one of His signs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves so that you may find comfort in them. And He has placed between you compassion and mercy.” [TMQ Surah Ar-Rum: 21],

[ٱلرِّجَالُ قَوَّٰمُونَ عَلَى ٱلنِّسَآءِ]

"Men are the protectors and guardians over women.” [TMQ Surah An-Nisa:34] and

[وَلَا تُضَارُّوهُنَّ لِتُضَيِّقُواعَلَيْهِنَّ ۚ]

“And do not harm them (i.e. women) in order to oppress them.”[TMQ Surah At-Talaq: 6].

Prophet Muhammed (saw) said in his farewell speech, «فَاتَّقُوا اللهَ فِي النِّسَاءِ» “Fear Allah concerning women!” And in a hadith reported by al-Haakim and Ibn Hibban on the authority of Aisha (ra), «خَيْرُكُمْ خَيْرُكُمْ لِأَهْلِهِ، وَأَنَا خَيْرُكُمْ لِأَهْلِي» “The best amongst you is the one who is best to his wives and I am the best of you to my wives.”

It is clear from these ayat and ahadith that Islam, while promoting taqwa (God consciousness) as a first line of defense against committing heinous crimes, obligates that men treat women well, safeguard them, and ensure that they are taken care of without fear. It prohibits any form of sexualization and objectification of women. The Islamic system also deals harshly with any form of violence against women, including the possibility of the death penalty for rape!

With this kind of system in place that promotes the values that create the correct viewpoint of women, alongside the laws that safeguard them in reality, there is hardly a man who would ever dare to even think about harming his wife in such a disgusting way.

As Muslims, we can only do so much to protect ourselves and our families from falling prey to the way this system shapes our viewpoints, our concepts, and our behaviors. Many Muslim families across the world ensure that their families read the Quran and the Seerah of Prophet Muhammed (saw), pray salah, give charity, visit Mecca for Hajj, and make dua for the oppressed, but this is not enough to stop the rotten system from decaying our sense of purpose and clouding of adherence to Allah (swt) even more. Checking off the proverbial boxes on the basic tenants of Islam is also not enough to gain the pleasure of Allah (swt) and make change in the society, as it is our duty as Muslims to not just convey the message of Islam to the world, but to strive to make Islam a political governing body. Insha’Allah, this is when we will witness the victory of Allah (swt) and with His victory, the borders made by the kufr (disbelief) will disintegrate, thus reuniting the Muslim lands into one. This is the only system that will rectify the relationship between men and women and bring tranquility, trust, and safety between husband and wife.
