Pakistan’s IMF sponsored finance officials were in Washington in recent weeks begging to close a deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to release a debarred $1 billion tranche from a bailout package, which Islamabad says is trivially needed to secure the country's struggling economy.

 The Generalized System of Preference (GSP) for Bangladeshi products in the US market was suspended in 2013. One of the conditions for getting back the desired GSP benefits was the abolition of child labor. But child labor still exists in Bangladesh in the production of clothing, leather goods, dried fish and bricks, according to a report by the US Department of Labor.
