The Arabic idiom, ‘If the soup is salty, changing the spoon won't work’, expresses that superficial or temporary solutions without getting to the root cause of a problem are ineffective and meaningless. If the main factor that causes the salinity of the soup is not eliminated, changing the spoon will not do any good.
