On the 11th of August 2023, the BBC reported that 23 Rohingya Muslims died and 30 are missing after a boat carrying migrants escaping Myanmar's oppressive system sank. The bodies of the 23 Rohingyas fleeing for their lives from Rakhine state have been recovered after their boat sank.
