A faction of the Turkish army makes a coup attempt in Turkey but not for Islam
Overnight, Istanbul and Ankara have been seized with a coup attempt against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan while he was on holiday at a resort on the Aegean Sea. After addressing the people through social media, Erdogan rushed to Istanbul to reassert control. Large crowds came onto the streets to support Erdogan.
According to the Turkish Weekly, "For weeks there were signs that tensions between Turkey's secular military and the Islamist-aligned government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan were reaching a boiling point. Semi-public disagreements between the politicians and the generals, especially over Syria policy, were becoming all too frequent. Military briefings appeared increasingly to be at odds with government statements."
The coup appears to have been a genuine one, conducted by officers, with rumours that the army chief of staff is being held captive. Previously, coups in Turkey have been led by the army leadership and so constituted the army as an institution asserting its control over the government.
It appears that those behind the coup made a number of mistakes, including not taking control of private television channels and social media. They were also not able to control Turkey's airspace or stop Erdogan landing at Istanbul airport. However, their greatest mistake was to take Western values as the basis for the coup, thus failing to win the popular support of the Muslim people. According to the New York Times, the coup leaders said in their statement:
“Turkish armed forces seized the rule of the country completely with the aim of reinstalling the constitutional order, democracy, human rights and freedoms, to make rule of law pervade again, to re-establish the ruined public order” ... “All the international agreements and promises are valid. We hope our good relations with all global countries goes on.”
The governmental systems in all Muslim countries are already based on Western values and controlled by Western powers. The Muslim people will never support a coup that perpetuates secular Western systems that continue to be tools of Western imperialist exploitation.
A genuine coup against these oppressive systems can only be successful if it carries the will of the people with it. The Muslim people at this time, in all Muslim countries, thirst for Islam. No genuine coup attempt can be successful unless it calls for Islam.
America and Russia Agree on coordination in Syria
America, wearied and bloodied by its engagements in Muslim lands, has compromised on joint coordination with Russia in Syria. Russia has of course already been engaged in Syria for almost a year but America has tried to publicly maintain distance from the Russian operation. America has also tried to position itself as being against the Assad regime while Russia and Iran are openly supporting it. They would carry out America's dirty work, while America could portray itself as the saviour of the Syrian people.
But Russia and Iran have failed to break the will of the Syrian people and America is now left with no choice except to openly work with these regimes against the Muslims of Syria. According to the New York Times, "The United States and Russia announced a tentative deal on Friday to coordinate airstrikes against the Islamic State and the Nusra Front, Al Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria." However the same article also notes that America remains embarrassed to publicly disclose the full terms of the agreement:
But Mr. Kerry refused to list the terms of the agreement.
“The concrete steps that we have agreed on are not going to be laid out in public in some long list,” he said, “because we want them to work and because they need more work in order to work. I want to emphasize, though, that they are not based on trust,” but on specific steps that needed to be taken by both sides.
Critics said the lack of details raised suspicions that Mr. Kerry had conceded too much.
Before Mr. Kerry’s talks in Moscow, a proposed agreement had called for the creation of a joint military command center staffed by military and intelligence officers who would share information so as to permit “integrated operations.” The proposal generated deep unease at the Pentagon and in some quarters of the State Department, where the plan was seen as too conciliatory to both the Russians and the Syrian president...
“So if some critic is criticizing the United States or Russia for going after Al Nusra, which is a terrorist organization, because they’re good fighters against Assad, they have their priorities completely screwed up,” Mr. Kerry said. “The fact is that Nusra is plotting against countries in the world. What happened in Nice last night could just as well come from Nusra or wherever it came from as any other entity. Because that’s what they do.”
Non-practising Muslim kills dozens in Nice
Once again, the now familiar pattern is repeating itself. A muslim living in the West, who was not known to be practising his deen, was responsible for the deaths of dozens of innocent civilians, and Western politicians are using this event as another excuse to attack Islam.
According to Reuters, Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, a 31-year-old Nice resident born in Tunisia, killed at least 84 people in the French city of Nice by driving his truck into a crowd. There were celebrating France's Bastille Day. Bouhlel had "a history of threats, violence and theft had brought him to the attention of police" but "was not [on] French intelligence services' list of suspected militants".
Even those Muslim groups that used to rush to claim such attacks previously are much more careful now, after realising the secular orientation of such Muslims. In the attack in Florida last month at a venue for those who engage in homosexual practices, one Muslim group rushed to claim responsibility. However, soon after they issued their statement, it was found that the attacker himself appeared to have been engaging in homosexual activity and visiting the same venue, spending hours consuming alcohol, for at least two or three years prior to his attacking it.
Although Muslim groups are coming to realise the true reality of such attacks, Western politicians still continue to portray these attacks as 'Islamic terrorism'. French President Hollande has already announced a further 3 month extension to France's emergency laws, the burden of which has fallen on innocent Muslims in France, who have suffered thousands of police raids. And in America, a senior politician has called for the expulsion from the U.S. of all Muslims who believe in the sharia.
Killing innocent civilians is a standard practice not of Islam but of Western Capitalist states. The Islamic Khilafah "Caliphate" elevated warfare to a uniquely ethical level, where not only civilians were to be unharmed but even enemy militants were to be treated with chivalry and honour. These practices of warfare became internationalised due to the status of the Islamic Khilafah "Caliphate" as the world's superpower. So even two European armies fighting each other would adhere to ethical norms in warfare. However, as soon as the Othmani Khilafah "Caliphate" fell from superpower status, Western Capitalist states began undermining ethical standards in warfare, and the result has been strategies, tactics and technologies designed to kill civilians rather than militants.
It should not be surprising that the killing of civilians is committed by those who are weak in their understanding and practise of Islam. The problem is not Islam, but the lack of Islam. The solution is the re-establishment of the Righteous Islamic Khilafah "Caliphate" based on rule of the Islamic sharia and the call of Islam to all of mankind.
