Tens of billions of dollars from the UN to Assad

On 29th August, it was found that the UN had provided billions of dollars’ worth of Aid to the Assad regime including food, fuel and support of its blood banks. Whilst it acknowledged that all this was under the control of Assad, the UN defended the position citing the "complexity" of the civil war as a reason. There is nothing really complex about the civil war especially as it is an oppressor against the oppressed. It seems that the UN, which since its establishment has followed the order of its member states especially the USA, is building the credibility of the regime and President al Assad as he is still identified as the most viable solution to the conflict by the West.

Brutal Tyrant on the Brink of Death

Uzbekistan's President Islam Karimov, who has ruled the central Asian nation for more than 25 years, is in intensive care after suffering a brain haemorrhage, according to his daughter. Karimova-Tillyaeva, who is also Uzbekistan's ambassador to UNESCO, stated that “My father was hospitalised after suffering a cerebral haemorrhage on Saturday morning, and is now receiving treatment in an intensive care unit.” Karimov’s rule has been characterised by oppression and Tyranny from torture to the Andijan Massacre were peaceful protesters were massacred by both the Uzbek and Russian forces. His allegiance to Russia and the fulfilment of the Russian plan was summed up by the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov who stated that, Russian President Vladimir Putin was "deeply grieved by the illness of the Uzbek president" and was being kept informed of his state through diplomatic channels and the media. "We value our relationship with Uzbekistan," added Peskov. A welcome sight for many as the dictator approaches what could be his final moments.

Turkey Invades Syria

This week saw Turkey launch an operation into Jarablus Syria. Despite the untold horror many have faced from both Russia and the al-Assad regime. Despite the regime in Ankara watching from the sidelines as this horror continues into 5 years, Turkey has now moved with a mission to oust ISIS and the Kurds from the north of Syria. Turkey invaded northern Syria, and brought with it a US-backed rebel bloc that includes part of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and the Ahrar al-Sham. Within 24-hours, both quickly got into a fight with the Kurdish YPG, who is also US-backed, putting three US allies in direct conflict. All of this takes place straight after the rebel groups in Aleppo broke the regime siege. Erdogan has shown once again its nationalism, rather than Islam that determine what actions he will do.
