Growing Racist Wave and Refugee Hostility in Türkiye

Recently, Türkiye has come under the influence of a growing wave of hatred and racism against Syrian refugees and Arab tourists.

Comment:

The refugee issue, especially exploited by Ümit Özdağ, the chairman of the racist, fascist Victory Party, is not limited to hostility towards Syrian refugees, but also leads to a growing hatred for Arabs and a serious polarization among the people.

The refugee issue, which is being exploited by Ümit Özdağ, a member of the British school, in order to wear down the government of President Erdoğan, a follower of the American school, is in a dangerous upward trend.

And so far we do not see President Erdoğan taking any measures to stop the racist, fascist and Kemalist refugee hostility project that tries to wear down his power.

Nationalism/racism is a destructive bigotry that emerges in intellectually backward societies with no ideology and that turns people against each other.

1- We do not come into this world of our own will and desire.

We cannot choose for ourselves

Neither our mother nor our father,

Neither our ethnic origin,

Nor our country,

Neither the language we speak,

Nor our sex,

Neither the organs in our body,

Nor our instincts,

Neither our mind,

Nor our abilities,

Nor our needs…

Issues that we cannot choose for ourselves, that we are forced into, cannot be condemned, nor can they be a matter of superiority.

Matters of condemnation or superiority are only related to one's own choices and preferences.

Hence, Allah (swt) said in Surah Al-Hujurat, verse 13:

[يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ مِنْ ذَكَرٍ وَأُنْثَى وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ شُعُوبًا وَقَبَائِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوا إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌ]

‘‘O humanity! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may ˹get to˺ know one another. Surely the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you. Allah is truly All-Knowing, All-Aware.’’

2- Nationalism feeds on and emerges from intellectually backwardness.

It has no system of life of its own.

It cannot produce solutions to people's problems.

It is in a state of barrenness/narrowness where it has to fall back upon an ideology or an idea when it wants to rule.

It is not sufficient on its own and cannot survive on its own.

3- People from different races, different languages, different cultures and different geographies melted in the crucible of Islam and became brothers, formed the Muslim Ummah and became the best Ummah and led the world for 13 centuries.

However, when their adherence to Islam weakened and they began to fall behind intellectually, the colonialist kafir infiltrated them, especially with nationalism, destroyed their states, abolished the Khilafah (Caliphate) that ensured their unity, and split the Muslim Ummah into many nations/nationalist states.

Then, in order to prevent the Muslim Ummah from reuniting under the Khilafah and becoming a great power and a deadly threat to the colonialists, it turned these states and peoples against each other with the idea of nationalism.

4- Nationalism is dividing, polarizing and antagonizing.

It is a project of destruction that can lead to conflict, chaos, crisis, unrest, greed for power, internal conflict and even civil war.

It is a disease that destroys the society.

It is a great corruption that consumes all human and Islamic values.

It is an internal enemy that must be destroyed before we can rise and become a great state.

This important obstacle can only be overcome by returning to the idea of Islam.

This important obstacle can only be overcome by uniting the Muslim peoples again under the Khilafah and for them to become brothers.

If we can achieve this with the help and grace of Allah, we will be able to deal the colonialist kuffar a bigger blow than they dealt us a century ago, and we will once again become a deadly threat to the colonialist kuffar.
