Betrayal of the Muslim Leaders on the Issue of Palestine

Since the Mujahideen launched their attack on October 7th 2023 against the illegal Jewish entity, the response by the illegal entity has been devastating on our Palestinian brothers and sisters. More than 12,000 Palestinians had been killed up to this point when both sides agreed to a short ceasefire for aid to be allowed in and prisoners exchanged. This ceasefire is by no means the end of aggression by the illegal entity. The spokesman of the entity’s military made it clear that the aggression will continue. Meanwhile, Muslim leaders continue their betrayal!

Comment:

This conflict has testified that sincere Muslims all over the world are in solidarity with their Palestinian brothers and sisters. Similarly, in Malaysia, Muslims stand in solidarity with Palestine and have been involved in political demonstrations and discussions at various levels. Besides that, sincere scholars have been vocal in iterating that the only viable solution for this problem is jihad fi sabilillah. The International Union of Muslim Scholars in Doha has issued a fatwa mandating jihad to liberate Palestine. However, these voices remain unheard, especially amongst Muslim leaders. The armies of Muslim nations neighbouring Palestine remain in their barracks. Every day, the world witnesses the tyranny of the Jews on Palestine but no one moves to defend the Palestinians. The duty of protecting Palestine must be borne by Muslim military forces, especially of the neighbouring countries. But where are they? The fact is that these forces are there and they witness what is happening with their own eyes. However, they could not move to defend their fellow believers because their leaders didn’t give them the command to move and chose not to act to protect their own interests. The betrayal of these leaders, especially involving the issue of Palestine, has been recorded repeatedly in world history after the fall of the Ottoman Caliphate in 1924.

Following the attitude of these leaders, calls have been made to them around the world, including in Malaysia, to immediately send military forces to defend Muslims in Palestine. These calls are addressed to all Muslim leaders because they are the ones who have the power to move the military to Palestine. It is the most appropriate action after we have witnessed various negotiations and agreements that failed to defend and save the Muslims in Palestine. There is no other way to stop this predator (illegal Jewish entity) except to eliminate it with military force. In Malaysia, the Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim responded to the call by explaining that it is not easy to send Malaysian troops to Palestine because Malaysia is involved in international agreements and alliances. Furthermore, he explained, every trip across borders and airspace needs to obtain permission or cooperation from the countries involved. The Minister of Defence, Dato' Seri Utama Mohamad Hasan further stated that Malaysia, as a member of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and a member of the United Nations (UN), does not want to take action alone.

We continue to see Muslims leaders around the world giving similar reasons and maintaining that their army exists to defend the sovereignty of their respective nations and not to help Muslims in other parts of the world who need help. They keep reiterating that they will only send troops if the UN gives a mandate and that mandate has already been revoked by the veto power of the very nation that supports the aggression of the illegal Jewish entity!!

Such justifications are indeed something to be expected due to the division that occurs among Muslims. Today, Muslims are divided into their respective nation states via the border lines created by the colonialists, after which, each Muslim nation proudly declares its own identity. This division has been going on for so long that many of us see it as something natural and practical in this day and age. The leaders of the Muslim states are collectively willing to make their nations trapped and shackled by the UN which is then used as an excuse not to send troops to Palestine. In fact, each of them never feels guilty about the division and they forgot about Islam’s stand concerning the unification of all Muslims in the world. This division is what prevents us from defending the Muslims in Palestine and the leaders of the Muslims will continue to issue useless statements within this divisive narration. They have collectively betrayed the Muslims in Palestine by simply observing and condemning without providing any real help. This act is clearly contrary to what treating other Muslims as brothers and render help when needed based on the hadith of Rasulullah (saw),

«الْمُسْلِمُ أَخُو الْمُسْلِمِ لَا يَظْلِمُهُ وَلَا يُسْلِمُهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ فِي حَاجَةِ أَخِيهِ كَانَ اللَّهُ فِي حَاجَتِهِ وَمَنْ فَرَّجَ عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ كُرْبَةً فَرَّجَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ كُرْبَةً مِنْ كُرُبَاتِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَمَنْ سَتَرَ مُسْلِمًا سَتَرَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»

“A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. He does not wrong him, nor surrender him. Whoever fulfills the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs. Whoever relieves a Muslim from distress, Allah will relieve him from distress on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever covers the faults of a Muslim, Allah will cover his faults on the Day of Resurrection.” (Bukhari and Muslim).

And Palestine is the land of all Muslims, not just for Muslims in Palestine. It is a blessed land as Allah (swt) says:

[سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَى بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلاً مِّنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الأَقْصَى الَّذِي بَارَكْنَا حَوْلَهُ لِنُرِيَهُ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ البَصِيرُ]

“Glory be to the One Who took His servant by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque whose surroundings We have blessed, so that We may show him some of Our signs. Indeed, He alone is the All-Hearing, All-Seeing.” [Al-Isra’: 1].

Muslims today need to realize that the real solution to the Palestinian issue is to launch a jihad against the illegal Jewish entity, however, this, it seems, can only be achieved when Muslims unite under the Khilafah (Caliphate). Only the Khilafah on the prophetic path will take offensive action against the illegal Jewish entity and liberate Palestine.
