Global Apathy: Rohingya and Palestinian Struggles Expose the Ineffectiveness of the International System

News:

Rohingya refugees facing persecution in Myanmar are enduring perilous sea journeys to reach Indonesia's Aceh province. The recent surge in arrivals, exceeding 1,600 since November, strains Aceh's historical hospitality towards Rohingya refugees. Villagers, traditionally welcoming, have attempted to tow boats back to sea, signalling a departure from past practices. The influx overwhelms local resources, sparking concerns that Indonesia may follow neighbouring countries in denying entry to Rohingya refugees. Despite challenging conditions, refugees express gratitude for safety in Indonesia compared to Bangladesh. Government intervention is urged to address the humanitarian crisis, with activists highlighting Indonesia's obligations under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. The government, acknowledging the challenges, seeks a balance between humanitarian concerns and national interests while investigating human smuggling. The root cause is attributed to ongoing violence in Myanmar, emphasizing the need for international cooperation to restore peace. (Source: cna)

Comment:

The issue facing Myanmar refugees, both in Indonesia and Bangladesh, will never be resolved until the root problem is addressed—the massacres perpetrated by the Myanmar regime and Buddhist extremists against Muslims. The international community, including Southeast Asian nations, ASEAN, and the UN, can only take a humanitarian approach as they lack the power to force an end to these massacres.

The Rohingya problem mirrors the plight of Muslims in present-day Palestine, both suffering political issues while the world remains silent on the root problem, focusing solely on humanitarian issues. It is evident that the current international system cannot be relied upon to solve various human issues, as we constantly wait for major nations to take action. Otherwise, we become mere spectators or temporary healers for our brethren slaughtered by the disbelievers.

This should serve as a lesson that the failure of the dominating system over the past decades is not dependable. Only Islam and the caliphate can truly be relied upon to prevent the various damages inflicted by non-believers against Muslims and protect the Islamic community.
