Without Unifying Pakistan and Afghanistan under the Khilafah Rashidah, Regional Security Will Remain an Elusive Dream

On 18 March 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan announced, “This morning Pakistan carried out intelligence-based anti-terrorist operations in the border regions inside Afghanistan. The prime target of today’s operation was the terrorists belonging to Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, which along with Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), is responsible for multiple terrorist attacks inside Pakistan, resulting in deaths of hundreds of civilians and law enforcement officials. The latest attack took place on 16 March 2024 at a security post in Mir Ali in North Waziristan and claimed the lives of seven Pakistani soldiers.” [mofa.gov.pk]

Comment:

Attacks on military check posts are not new, sadly. However, the manner in which it was conducted shows that the militant force in the tribal areas of Pakistan is getting stronger. It is a dangerous indicator of prolonged regional insecurity and instability. After the withdrawal of American armed forces from Afghanistan, and the emergence of Afghan Taliban in Kabul in August 2021, there were hopes that regional security will return. However, that did not happen. Efforts were made to reach a regional security pact with the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Despite some temporary arrangements, a permanent regional security deal was not reached. The Pakistan Army and tribal fighters are now engaged in a war that has no end in sight. Muslims are killing Muslims, in a continuous cycle of attacks and reprisal attacks. The Pakistan Army has now taken the place of the US Army in a war that will bleed it in a death of a thousand cuts.

The war between Muslims is in accordance to what American needs in terms of the regional security balance. Whilst Muslims are fighting Muslims in a destructive competition over regional security, India is left free to build its own dominance over the region. Whilst Pakistan’s western border with Muslim Afghanistan is hot and unstable, its eastern border with the Hindu State is cool and restive. Whilst Pakistan Army is ensnared in a war with no end, the Indian Army is free to focus on China and all the region’s Muslims.

It has not always been this way. There was a time when tribal mujahideen and the Pakistan Army worked together against kafir enemies. They worked together to expel the occupying forces of Soviet Russia. They worked together in maintaining a regional security balance favorable for Muslims. They jointly kept the Durand Line cool, restive and secure, whilst ensuring the Indian Army had sleepless nights on the Line of Control, for years. All that changed with the agent of America, General Musharraf, until now. Ruthlessly implementing the American regional security strategy, Musharraf opened the flood gates to death and destruction for Muslims, whilst guaranteeing uninterrupted security, strengthening and progress for the Hindu State. Every successive military leadership has done the same, with the same result.

It is only the Deen of Islam which will ensure regional security for the Muslims of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Bangladesh and India. It is Islam that will bury the enmity and rivalry of the past, just as it unified the warning tribes of Madinah. It is the state of Islam, the Khilafah Rashidah, that will erase all nationalist borders between Muslims. It is the Khilafah that will unify all the races of the region under one brotherhood, that of Islam. It is the Khilafah that will mobilize the regular armies and the mujahideen in wars for the liberation of Occupied Kashmir and Gaza.

O Officers of Pakistan Army! Restore Grant your Nussrah to Hizb ut Tahrir to establish the Khilafah Rashidah. Make enmity between Muslims a tragedy of the past by restoring ruling by the Book of Allah (swt) and the Sunnah of the Prophet (saw). Allah (swt) said,

[وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا وَاذْكُرُوا نِعْمَتَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ كُنتُمْ أَعْدَاءً فَأَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِكُمْ فَأَصْبَحْتُم بِنِعْمَتِهِ إِخْوَانًا وَكُنتُمْ عَلَى شَفَا حُفْرَةٍ مِّنَ النَّارِ فَأَنقَذَكُم مِّنْهَا كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ آيَاتِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ]

“And hold firmly together to the rope of Allah1 and do not be divided. Remember Allah’s favour upon you when you were enemies, then He united your hearts, so you, by His grace, became brothers. And you were at the brink of a fiery pit and He saved you from it. This is how Allah makes His revelations clear to you, so that you may be rightly guided.” [TMQ Surah Aali Imran 3:103].
