The Miserable Failure of Institutions under the Indian Government is a Reminder of the Need for Khilafah (Caliphate)

As reported by Al-Jazeera, on 3 March 2024, “Wakeel Hasan had to climb his neighbour’s 1.8-metre (six-foot) wall to enter the rubble-filled plot of land where his house stood only a day earlier. The police had barricaded the front of the land where his home, a single-floored, two-bedroom house that his family had called home for over a decade, was demolished on Wednesday by the authorities in Khajuri Khas, a densely populated neighbourhood in India’s capital, New Delhi.” [aljazeera.com]
Comment:
This house was none other than the house of Wakeel Hasan who became a national hero. With others, he rescued 41 laborers in the Uttarakhand’s Silkyara tunnel, who were trapped for seventeen days since 12 November 2023. All state rescue operations, with many government agencies, foreign experts and state-of-the-art equipment, had failed, before the heroic attempt of Wakeel and his team. Wakeel’s team of so-called “rat-hole miners” were a last resort. The 1.4 billion people of India held their collective breath as the rat-hole miners bravely dug by hand for 26 hours, to free the buried men in the tunnel. Instead of state honors and awards, Wakeel’s house was demolished and he was detained by police.
Many of the government institutions in the capital region fall under the direct control of the Union BJP Government, including the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) that demolished the house of Waleed. The selective application of the demolition laws practiced by the DDA is the result of the bigotry and discrimination of the BJP in handling the citizens’ affairs of the state. On 30 January 2024, the DDA demolished the 600-year old Akhoondji Masjid and Behrul Uloom Madrasa. Locals claim the masjid was built during Razia Sultana's reign making the structure nearly 600-700 years old [indianexpress]. Repeated targeted demolitions in many BJP ruled states are taking place. Like most of anti-Muslim activity perpetrated by right wing, the BJP does so for vote polarization, with impending elections in April 2024.
It is for the fair minded inhabitants of India to consider Islam. The Shariah demands the honorable treatment of the Dhimmi non-Muslim citizens of the Islamic State. The people of Dhimmah enjoy the same rights as those enjoyed by Muslims, in terms of managing their affairs and securing their living. It is narrated on the authority of Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, «أَطْعِمُوا الْجَائِعَ، وَعُودُوا الْمَرِيضَ، وَفُكُّوا الْعَانِيَ»“Grant food to the hungry, pay a visit to the sick and release (set free) the one in captivity (by paying his ransom).” (Transmitted by Al-Bukhari through Abu Musa.) Abu ‘Ubaydah said, "وكذلك أهل الذمة يجاهد من دونهم، ويفتك عناتهم، فإذا استنقذوا رجعوا إلى ذمتهم وعهدهم أحراراً، وفي ذلك أحاديث"“Therefore, the Dhimmis are excluded from Jihad, their prisoners are freed and if they are slaved, they return to their Dhimmah and their covenant as free, and there are narrations regarding that.” Immediately after the Sword of Allah, Khalid Ibn al-Walid (ra), had opened al-Hira in southern Iraq, he (ra) wrote a letter to the Khaleefah Abu Bakr (ra) telling him how he had implemented the jizyah tax but had exempted non-Muslims who were poor, old and handicapped, saying, طُرِحَتْ جزيتُه وعيلَ من بيت مال المسلمين وعياله “He is exempted of Jizyah. He will be enriched of the Bayt ul Maal of Muslims, along with his family.”
The absence of Islam has made humanity lose the reference of right and wrong. While Muslims ruled India, the Islamic culture dominated over centuries. Even non-Muslims were largely driven by the culture of the time. However, since the end of Caliphate, and advent of secular culture, the reference set by Allah (swt) has been put on hold. Secularism replaces righteousness with material benefit and utilitarianism. Humanity as a whole is now wavering in a trance like state. It is like a disorientated man not perceiving what is up and what is down; what is left and what is right. The return of the Khilafah Rashidah (Rightly Guided Caliphate) in the Muslim World will showcase the right bench mark for the honorable treatment of citizens, bidh’nillah. Allah (swt) said,
[وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَاكُمْ أُمَّةً وَسَطًا لِّتَكُونُوا شُهَدَاءَ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَيَكُونَ الرَّسُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدًا]
“And so We have made you a reference Ummah [Ummatan Wasat] so that you may be witnesses over humanity and that the Messenger may be a witness over you.” [TMQ Surah Al-Baqarah 2:143].
